Remote light on reefer

Could be something as simple as the plug for the remote has vibrated loose. Check to where the cable is connected inside the control panel of the unit to see if it is tight.

 

If it's the LED one look for a break anywhere the wiring makes a turn. Usually where it goes into the module so you can't repair it. They're a real PITA.

 

If it is the one with the 8 different lights on it. Then could be the bulb is burnt out. Just use a long screwdriver and a pair of needle nose to unbolt the box from the trailer. You can the check the lights and most truck stops sells that size light in a package for 6 for $6

 

Ive learned to ignore the "quirks" of reefer operation status compliance update just gotta know thing-a-magingies. If the temps' consistent I get out the electrical tape to mask the offending warning light and bounce. No worries, mate!

 

So if you are behind the wheel for hours running across the desert just ignore it? There are some codes that can wait while there are others you can't ignore.

 

The bulbs in the Carrier display are simply 198 wedge bulbs. I replaced mine with LED and they're much more noticeable, especially in direct sunlight.

 

No, I dont just ignore it. But I also know how to analize a "ghost in the machine" and not over think it. If its holding its temp I'm happy. My job is to deliver on time with a quality product. If I went to a Thermo King everytime a light flashed the only entity generating profit would be...wait for it...Thermo King!

 

Not sure if you got it fixed or not, but I had a similar problem on mine, and turned out to be the fuse. The fuse for the Ultima XTC is a 3amp fuse, and it is located underneath the reefer, (not the fuse box), in a housing, next to wiring for the light. The housing looks like a connecter. If you can't find let me know, I can try to take a picture.

 

Time to upgrade maybe? I don't think I have seen my unit code out in over a year. And the last time I can remember was because it was 100° out and was set at -10° and bumped to a dock with crappy pads for 12 hours.
