Still have my original DELL laptop, bought it in 1996. Still works.....well slow compared to today's laptops. Still have my second one I bought in 2001. Still works......well slow compared to this one. Don't have to worry if the program I purchase works cross-platform or not. Never had a virus either. And I haven't had anti-virus for three years. Decided it was a waste of money, especially the modern virii, best to re-format if you get one of these, cause virus protection really isn't. SO, other than that, what is your point?

Getting a virus on a Win box is 99.99% user fault. I have been using windows starting in 1991, I have had 1 virus and it was my fault.

Something else about Apple, If you don't like the apple way, you can not have it any other way. Otherwise we turn your nice $400 phone into a brick.

With Apple, it is either their way or your SOL.................With a PC I can pick and choose what and how I use my system.

I've been using windows since 1993. NEVER EVER had a virus. Have five computers here - four now. If you get a virus, it's user fault, not the computer's fault.

I have had many old windows computers that lasted forever... laptops, too. My old Dell from 2002 still works fine - it's just slow.

Apple is nice but at $1,000 more, it's not worth it to me.

Last time I ever had a virus on my PC is with a 486 way back when storage (HDD) capacity is less than todays memory (RAM).

You can say that Macs are almost idiot proof but I have never had a major issue with my laptop and desktops that would sink my ship. If you learn to do back-ups, update your OS, get good protection (anti-virus, anti-spyware etc.) you'd be surprise how safe PCs can be compared to Macs.

And if ever something fails in my PC hardware wise, it's easy to replace them with so many vendors competing. Parts I should say would be cheaper too. :)

PCs also will have access to a lot more programs, games and applications that will run on it, without the aid of an emulator program that would require extra computing power to run on Macs. :)

    1. my mac does run all things pc, without an emulator, why bother. The programs I run from apple do the same stuff as a pc. i aint no rocket scientist and im not designing a new space shuttle, so what do I need for this thingy to do. Ease of operation, extreme reliability. u get what u pay for.

    2. all back ups, os upgrades, and the like are automatic.

    3. yes there are fewer apple computer out there. BUT Unix based systems are much harder to infiltrate. i have never used any form of anti virus software OR the like.

    4. Microsoft is still the DARKSIDE.

    5. YES i have dropped this macbook while moving along, and yes it obviously still works.:biggrin_25514:

oh yeah im in va 4 more ltl pu 4 fl SEE YA on the FLIP RAAHHGGER!!

When an Apple is twice the price of a PC (eBay) its pretty hard for this hard luck truck driver to afford one.

    So does my reliable DELL

Same with my Windows PC (DELL)

"Fewer machines" = less competition = higher prices

That's why there are so many of them compared to Apple, right?

I have dropped my DELL as well, so I guess it is just lucky either of us didn't fracture the mother-board, huh?

    HUH?

Macs can run PC programs w/o emulators? hmmmmm. I might be mistaken but doesn't a different OS need an emulator to translate the other OS language?

Leopard can now run windows programs no problem. Boot Camp is integrated into the operating system and no emulators are necessary - unless you consider Boot Camp an emulator. You click on set up boot camp and it does the rest for you.
