Hey im just starting to haul cars locally. I have my own company for over a year. I have a 04 silverado 3500 dually with 130k mls. Im 20 and dont have cdl yet. Im looking to get a 2 car gooseneck and run locally. An average run will be 200 miles one way and prices are 120-150 per car. Will i make any money doing this or will i go broke? Ive been a dispatcher for past 2.5 years so i can load myself. Im going to get my MC and DOT.
How much will my insurence be? How much cargo insurence do i need for 2 cars? Whats the best insurence company for new drivers/companies? Do i need to fill out log books? Do i need to enter chicken coops(weight stations)? What other paper work will i need?

I can answer the weight part. Either the truck has to be over 26,000 lbs or the trailer is rated over 10,000 lbs and a GCWR is over 26,000 lbs then you need a CDL and fall within the regulations. Then you need to log and enter chicken coops. Actually any commercial vehicle needs to enter coops but read the signs carefully, states vary with the wording. I would say unless you are hauling both directions or do 1.5 trips a day (600 miles) you would go broke but this is not my field. You're looking at roughly $160 in fuel alone for a round trip, not to mention truck/trailer and company expenses.
