Gotta figure in the average veteran company driver pay $.50 cents a mile then operating costs $1.08 a mile then fuel surcharge of a $.80 a mile at $4 a gallon. I'd haul a cheap load for $2.38 but wouldn't feel good about it considering I don't have cheap health benes

No I'm not really a driver I just play one on truckers report. No-one is trying to make bank on a single load every time. You build off the good stuff. Understandable since you have zero trucking experience that you would think like that though. You talk a good game but I saw what your real opinion of small operations are in that post the mods deleted for you. I think you're just another cut throat customer who's reaping what you've sown in a tight market.

I really did not think I was being that mean........ -
Insulting people and calling them names is not a part of this forum. Hey, Rollin' I've been in the trucking industry for 20 years. How long have you been doing this? You have a very small view of the industry as a whole. I haven't just sat behind a wheel and formed opinions. I have seen this from all sides. Open your mind and know that not everyone is like you nor do they think like you. Everyone has differing experiences and may think we are both nuts. Thanks, you are right I have a very HIGH opinion of the smaller operations. I like helping smaller companies to grow. Obviously, you did not really read what was deleted or you would understand it, and you have it wrong... I was responding to be called a dimwit by a SUPER SMART guy. An education goes a long way. It teaches you how to spell the word, whine correctly. That opinion was solely for Nofilter.

I'm not angry - just calling it like I see. You made some snide and sniveling comments about small operators having to manage their one little truck. You seem to have a real problem with guys like me trying to educate others about going out there and getting fair rates. Your idea of fair and mine are not the same. You're a shipper by your own admission. You present yourself as someone who is out to help the small truckers and companies. Please don't kid yourself. We all know this is business and everyone does what's in their own best interest. I base your zero actual trucking experience off of your history commenting here what you've said etc. For all I know you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth and maybe been around some of this stuff but really nothing you've ever posted here would lead me to believe you've ever managed any kind of trucking operation.

This is very entertaining.
If freight rates are set by cost to operate a truck then we would see rates fairly even around the country. But we have one of the basic of basic economic principles at play - supply and demand. We call it Capacity for short.
Shippers that haven't locked up capacity are going to get burned. Nothing is going to get better from that prospective. Carriers aren't expanding. And most are over booked and brokering excess freight at record rates.
This is like a game of musical chairs that is fixed. A group of people have bought their chairs for the next round so rather than 11 loads and 10 chairs, 7 of those loads have already bought chairs. But it is worse. It is more like 30 loads, 10 chairs with 7 chairs being reserved.
So if you are going to play trucking chairs you better figure out the new rules because in the next round you are not loosing just a chair. A couple others will have figured it out and you are going to be fighting with a whole bunch of people over the remain chair.Lady K, jdrentzjr, rollin coal and 6 others Thank this.
