o well, you can drive your waning years waiting for that to happen

i prefer to live for today, plan for tomorrow and not worry about getting hit by lightning

do people get hit by lightning? of course, but if you run and hide everytime it starts to rain, you will be losing out on a lot of life

yesterday, i drove about an hour from my destination, sat with relatives for quite a long time, then drove the final hour and went to sleep

illegal yes, but i refuse to be chained to a truck, if i want to stop and visit family and friends or go to the movies or eat at a good restaurant, i am not going to keep checking the clock to see if the definition of some politician is going to dictate my life

you can live like that, God bless

parking is a problem but no where near the biggest problem we have

but, if you are letting that little squakbox tell you "you are in violation, you are in violation" then yes, parking is a problem

God forbid you drive an extra 15 minutes, you are an outlaw worthy of being executed on sight

I use an app called All stays Truck and Travel. It lists walmarts, motels, truckstops, rest areas, service centers, other stores that offer truck parking.

Let me explain something to you. If you want to get parking every day at a legal spot, then park the truck at 10 AM. If you not parked by 10 AM, then you didn't plan accordingly. Sound absurd? Well, it is.

Secondly, yes I have a truck stop guide book. But, is it always useful? NO. There are places that fill up fast, I can get off the highway, go into one of these places and its full, well, that's 7 minutes wasted. Get back on, keep going, the clock is going down. Many places have truck parking few and far in between. I have my Rand McNally that has the major truck stops around, I have my truck stop guide book, I see the rest areas too.

You claim that anyone can find parking in time. Well, go back to my first sentence. If we ALL Park the truck early, we will all have parking? Right? NO. because if we all did that there would be no parking. Imagine a bunch of Lemmings all doing the same thing, all having that dandy little truck stop guide book. We pull into the truck stop at 7 PM and they are full, we leave and pass the rest area, its full. We look at the truck stop guide book, a small truck stop ahead, what a shock, its full. Some times you go in, a driver pulls out because he is ending his 30 minute break, or he starts driving or has a delivery at night. Then, I get lucky and I get a spot.

You seem to have a hard time contrasting reality and some utopic world where parking is magically available. I can pick up on where places will have parking and where places wont. For example, Dallas, TX. The first time I went there to the Flying J, at 10 AM I was lucky to find a parking spot. Memphis, TN, good look on finding parking there or near by after a set amount of hours. Even at some of these mom and pop truck stops near the Campbells soup plant in Texas for example, the only good thing to find is a Wal MArt or retail parking lot.

But no, there must be something wrong with us. You paint a picture of drivers pulling into truck stops, with women in bikinis flagging you into a reserved parking spot and fainting like a teen girl at a Justin Beiber concert when you throw a pee bottle at them. Come on, we are grown men and women. I'm so tired of all these people, seemingly professional drivers that have been in this industry for awhile, pulling the card and blaming the new generation and accusing us of being cry babies. Even if you don't come out and say it, its there.

Guess what? Parking problems don't discriminate, if you're a rookie or a 20 year trucking vet, same problems and same issues. You just want to come on here and sensationalize.

My challenge to you: Make a VLOG for a week of your travels across the USA of you trying to find a parking spot after 7 PM and show us your log book to see how many hours you have left. Maybe you run some shuttle from point A to point B and have something lined up. But, I'm calling shenanigans on your claim. I will shut down 1-2 hours early if I need to, just to find a spot. Some times I don't have that luxury, as when I try to shut down 1-2 hours early there are no spots so I have to keep rolling. Yes, I do use the CB to and ask if there are spots open at a certain truck stop. Many times, no response at all. Anyways, stop the hate.

The biggest crutch I can say that elogs have vs paper is one has to either shut down earlier, and or start earlier and the biggest problem I have with elogs is when time is ticking down and one is only 30 miles or so away with one hour left, I start consentrating more on the time and miles vs driving, my speed also picks up, and not knowing about traffic I get all tense on wether I am going to make it or not, then once one gets to where one is suppose to be then comes the hurry up and park so I can get off the clock.

I would much rather use paper just for this fact, one doesn't have to worry about shutting down earlier than normal, and one doesn't have to be rushed to find a place to park or to get somewhere
