INCOME TAX??? REALLY? You're telling him to make a life changing decision based on STATE income tax?

First of all, most state income taxes are graduated tax rates. If you earn what most OTR drivers earn ($35K) you will pay a couple hundred dollars in state tax. I wouldn't take a job with a company that mistreats me or has dangerous equipment just to save a couple hundred dollars a year.

 

I wouldn't drive over the road for 35k a year. 57k my first year in a truck and that's where the bar is set now. Live where it makes you happy, if I weren't married Vegas would be it for me

 

Just to set the record straight on taxes in Texas, no we do not have a state income tax, it will not cost $2000 to register your car, I have a 2013 Altima Coupe, it cost me $68. Now what we do have is a higher than average Sales Tax which you will pay when you purchase a vehicle or anything else except food.

 

Chattanooga has had a gang war for years. It depends on where you live as to how it affects you. As far as that goes, any area has that from big to small. I don't like Chattanooga either.

 

High pollution, corrupt little government, low paying jobs and not too many of them, high cost of living for median income...it's a mecca.

You showed $57K your FIRST YEAR in a truck? Don't try to act SURPRISED that most do not earn 100K their first year like you did. If you SHOW 57K you probably grossed 100 (am I right?). Remember I said MOST drivers.
