I've noticed it's very rare to see a load deliver west of Texas from the east or east of Colorado from the west. Invisible line there. Probably save those cross country loads for company drivers and teams? Trying to route myself home for the first time. Slim pickings right now. Stuck in Florida with very slim pickings right now.

Oh ya.. FL a tough market for us. Sometimes it surprises me tho. Don't go there much but watch the loads out of there. Hopefully they set you up with something or let you deadhead out..

Picked a relay from Orlando going to AL. Lots of loads to pick from once I'm there.

Currently running up and down the east coast for now! Have done some pretty decent loads however this last one from Macon GA to Edgewood MD has got me heading into bad weather! Bummer! Stopped early here (now in Virgina) just before the freeze line. Waiting it out until tomorrow. Hopefully can get this load in there and delivered before pay period cut off. Will see!

Oh yeah! finally a day with dry roads, sunshine and no wind! Out here in Indian on my way to Arkansas. Then doing a couple of short loads before heading to Cali. Going to run by the house and grab some R&R and some cuddle time with the wife :biggrin_255:

At the end of last week I kinda got into a mental funk! For the life of me couldn't seem to pic a load that I was comfortable with or worth taking. Ended up doing a non planned 34hr reset! ughh! Just not like me to do that but it happens.. Love the challenge out here of routing myself and picking loads to bring in the revenue needed, but every now and then it's like the load board doesn't give me good options and I will struggle to find the perfect loads to route me into profitable areas not realizing that I am doing that. Sometimes there is no perfect load! You just got to keep moving with the best load plan you can find in that moment. Then the next area you go into will purge some better load options (usually). In a nut-shell that is how I found it works best. Normally I like to have 2 or 3 loads on me and try to stay ahead of it.

When i deliver my last load and don't have a continual plan it sometimes causes me to fumble in my productivity .. Most of the time i can find a load pretty quickly and keep moving but not all the time. Sometimes it works out better to wait a little bit to find your loads but then sometimes that works against you too it seems. Waiting to long and I feel like I'm loosing valuable time ..if you know what I mean!.. Bottom line, from what I can see it is a part of playing the business owner game and making the best decisions possible with what information & experience you have at the time. It's all good!

Finished my loads for this pay period and on my way to pick up a load out of OK going to Cali now! Have few things i need to get done on the truck. Air conditioner, Tri Pac, alignment and tires balanced/rotated and P.M. is coming due! Hoping get those items taken care of while at the house. Might be able to take care of the tires and alignment a long the way to help save time and keep truck moving. Don't want to spend to much time in the shop all at once if I can avoid it. Even tho I'm going to the house not planning to spend a lot of time there on this trip. Spring is here and hopping to take full advantage of the available freight.

I have been here over a year now as IC . Still learning things everyday.. a few days ago caught myself booking a set of loads with to much time between them. Caught it right away and called my ICA got them taken off and then I re-booked the loads. As it worked out, it was the same loads I had, just added one in between. It is easy to screw up sometimes even when you think your not.. As it happen I was able to pull in another $400 in revenue for this pay period by catching that mistake. Learned these lesson the hard way if you know what I mean!

Even after picking a load I tend to check and recheck the numbers and my schedule to see if it was done correctly (according to my own goals). At least then if you catch it early it's a lot easier to get them removed if necessary.

    Truck it!

So, it dawned on me the other day that I hadn't received a notification from this thread in a really LONG time, which I thought was odd! So I decided to come and check if people had really stopped posting here and lo and behold I've missed months of great interaction! I guess I will have to play catch-up!

I don't know if you all remember, but my husband started with Schneider back in Aug. 2013 on the choice program. We had about a month's worth of a rough start, but it has been pretty great overall these last 7 months. Our experience has been in line with most I've read about. We make anywhere from $1100 to $2200 a week take home, with the occasional $500-$700 weeks from spending time at home. I now help my husband full time as his dispatcher, as we figured out we make better money when I book loads for him than he does, by a few hundred dollars a week usually!

We do have to save some of that for taxes, but with hard work and discipline, this is a very rewarding career. Not only is the money there, waiting to be made, our older boys can go out on the road with their dad, and have a great time. Trucking with my dad is one of my fondest memories from my childhood.

So hopefully I can get caught back up on the thread and start receiving notifications again! Husband just left this morning, going on a run up to SC. From there he goes to PA then to OH, then to KS. Chips loads are awesome, by the way! ;)

    Drive safe everyone!

I notice that when my phone logs me out I don't get my subscription updates. When I log in, they come in. What did you mean, chip loads are awesome? I loaded some one time in a box with an elevator stuck in the end... Is that what you mean? Thanks for the additional info on how it's working out for you....
