Its all about fuel efficency and saving money. We were told in orientation that when they dropped from 65 to 62 that the company saved over $3 million. Yet some drivers are always saying they,re going to turn them back up. Yeah right when pigs fly!!!

There's a lot more than just fuel that goes into 62mph. Just think insurance and safety. If you run hard and keep your idle time reasonable like was previously stated, you'll be fine. Unless you love sweating in the winter and freezing in the summer. I'm a fan of the happy medium, so I didn't have to idle too much. They have options for inverters for the trucks too. I believe the 579's have them and a tv built into the truck.

Power inverter is how you run your stuff. The new 579's have it built in with standard house type receptacles on both sides of the sleeper. 379's the inverter is in one of the closets.

New trucks 63. I don't understand why it makes a difference? Unless you are a long haul open road driver it makes no difference. When you goal is to do 5 400-600 mile loads a week you don't need 70. If you're smart you go on percentage pay so miles driven does not matter.

My favorite part at the end of a day is being passed by that 70 mph truck 30 miles from the truck stop, pulling in and seeing him in the fuel line, me bypassing the fuel dock and getting the last parking spot. 20 minutes later here he comes driving around looking for a place to shut down.

The guys that pass you 30 times are the greatest. It's possibly my favorite part of the job.
