True, but what about the other 4 weeks they are on the road. I submitted this with some thoughts to RM,, it will be hashed out and looked at..

It is a great idea... even my wife has her unit and I have mine...

    Thanks,
    Mark

Honestly, I don't see that many people setting a password & forgetting it. The home point is just a fail safe.

The other 4 weeks on the road? I'd hope they'd have a road atlas & cell phone. Rough it for a bit knowing they will get their friend back soon.

The problem with today's society is that nobody wants to accept consequences for their mistakes.

Excellent point though I didn't mention a password protected lock-out. I suppose RM would have to add a password file to the dock software. After that, the only remedy would be a full factory reset I suppose. From a CS standpoint Mark, would rand even be willing to incorperate some kind of password recovery script to live support?

A little bit of a P.I.T.A. but, hook the unit to dock software and have a reset PW feature in there, or like plenty of web sites do now enter your email address answer some kind of security question once you have verified you are indeed you, you can now change the PW.

There still have to be some sort of security measure as you indicated but as Mark posted- what happens when one forgets the answer to the securtiy question? Probably still have to go through the dock software as well as everything related to the RM TND does.

I'm sure it is possible, but I don't know of anyone who has forgotten the answer to the security question or questions. I have messed up passwords before because they are different for a lot of sites. The answer for my mothers maiden name is always the same. The first car I ever owned is always the same. I hate the sites that give me questions with zero relevance to my life I.E. Where was my wedding at? Since I am single and never married that question won't work. Let me chose the questions that there is no way to forget the answers, unless something happens to give me brain damage, for me it's just not possible to forget my first car or my high school, or my mothers maiden name.

Either way going through the dock software would be the way to go. Once security questions are set up you can forget or just change PW's as often as you like.

I just started the using the fuel record keeping. Is the average mpg listed current month? life? It would be nice if you could see a 30, 90 and 365 day average when you first enter the fuel area. The only place it shows mpg is in the "add fuel" screen.

Dont set up lock out on mine lol. i would forget the password. Also soem times it needs to be reprogramed when it glitches. Yesterday mine said i arrived at location when i was 1200 miles away. I had to reset the unit and re route.

    hello Mark. Red here
Just a note about no truck legal route can be found from 699 State box rd , Oroville,Ca to 18978 Nugget Blvd , Sonora,CA.
It routes fine in 53 foot trailer but get no legal truck route in 48 foot or Straight trailer.
My setting were 96" X 48' trailer and 13,6 inches no Hazmat with 38,000 empty lbs and 5 axles setting won't route coming or going.
    Thanks Red.
