I'm so sorry to bring this back from the dead. All is good here, I have been very busy and working hard ever since the transition. The freedom, in some aspects, has been great!
Really nice to take 10 days off to go hunting, or spending time with family in Las Vegas and seeing Nascar (not a fan really) for the first time. Not sure if I had mentioned, but I have been in jobs where I managed employees. THIS has been such a relief, as a business that relies solely on me, I can see my hard work pay off.
Planners....seems like the day you move from company to contractor, these people take on a new meaning to your life. It's the hardest part of the business...learning to play the game, what loads to accept or decline. Make no mistake, you will second guess a lot of those decisions....make a bad choice every now & then, learn how to avoid the next hurdle. I spend a portion of my decisions on what may be costly if it goes wrong on a load, like the places I deliver, negative experience with certain customers, and trailer hunting for empties if it's a drop load. I do what I can to avoid situations to hurt the pocket book.
Somebody asked if I made it a month into my lease. Are you serious, dude? I bet you have no personal reasons to lease a truck, or have doubts to being successful doing so...don't matter, just stop doubting other people.A21CAV, inkeper, Lepton1 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Good to hear that you are enjoying the freedom and I certainly hope it is paying off with higher compensation. When you take significant time off, how is that handled with the settlement checks? I'd imagine that would end up with a negative settlement or two. Is that deducted from an account, or taken from future settlements?

Future settlements and if you choice you can have money withdrawn from your maintenance account and added to your settlement .

It doesn't help when we have exact dates like Sat-Saturday but then he also will request home time in CA knowing I can get him in Fontana (now Mira Loma) to go to San Diego or Disneyland for a family trip. It will give a him a few more miles. Him driving to Florida for our eventual Disney World trip will earn us money and we won't have to pay his air fare.SteveH85396 Thanks this. -

Glad you are doing good
