Hi all.
I am looking to get back in a truck after seven years . I worked for hogan back then . i drove for two years .But that seems not to matter anymore. I got away from trucking because it was tearing my family apart I tried to work around my area at different jobs . But always found myself talking and thinking of the road. Now im single with nothing tying me down and i am trying to get back into a truck. Wich is not easy when money is tight. All the places that i have called have turned me down for one reason or the other. Except Western Express . They are glad to have me, They took my app and called in a hour to confirm me going to Nashville. The problem with that is all the bad rep that i hear on the net. Now im sure every company has employees that are unhappy but it seems like no one has had a good thing to say about them. Should i go with a company that has a rep like this and get little pay .(people are saying 500 pay checks for flatbed) just to get my foot in the door?
I live near St.Louis but i am willing to go just about anywhere that i could get a good start. I have had a few jobs where i worked for friends and realy dont have a great job reference. the last job that i had that anyone can contact is dennys 6 months ago and i got fired for not making batter 2 mornings out of the three years that i worked there. My hogan refrence is solid both my MVR and Dac are clear. I have no criminal background.I just dont have cash for a school. Any suggestions would help. Thanks
i am looking to get back into a truck after 7 years is western express a good choice?

Western Express has a bad rap on here, but there's also drivers that have been there for years; even 10-15 years. You're fortunate any company will take you without formal schooling after 7 years off the road. Take Western Express up on the deal; you're only obligated for 9 months and all the training is free; then you can go anywhere you want. If you go with their flatbed division, there will be many top quality flatbed companies with great paychecks waiting for you if you decide to leave Western Express. Nine months is nothing when you have a new career ahead.

Don't worry about other drivers, because you're not them. YOU are YOU. Right ? You're going to walk into orientation, deal with the stuff they hand to you, get your truck assignment, walk past the drivers that are quitting and get your truck and haul freight. This is the process. You've been there before with Hogan. That's an advantage. Get 6-12 months under your belt, then, re-evaluate your situation. As you've found out, you don't pick a company, a company picks you.

if u go to western express u will have to deal with their lies.u will have to fight to get home.bad choice.call Ozark ,they have a training program and they are up front on everything,no suprises.they will have u on ur own in two weeks.good miles and decent pay.my son worked foe western express flatbed and it was nothing but lies.they promised him a dedicated that didn't exist to get him to come over...it was lie after lie after that
