I was traveling along I-10 earlier today thinking about how I'd like to have my radio calibrated with my antenna on my truck. I have a Texas ranger that puts out a respectable wattage, but it just doesn't get out the way I'd like it to, even with the good quality antenna I have on my truck.
So, I got to thinking about where to stop, and I drew a blank. It's like ten years or more since I needed a tech to work on my radio. I know there used to be a good shop in Monteagle. I was there a week or so ago, and I don't remember seeing one there now. I remember there was a good tech in Frystown, Pa at the old TTMA truck stop, later called the All American, but that's a Pilot now, and the guy in Ashlend, Va at the T/A I think isn't around anymore. I believe the shop next to Mr. Fuel in Doswell, va. is still there, but I don't go that way very much anymore. I used to stop at the 76 in Oak Grove, Mo. years ago also, but now I think that's gone too. I know the truck stop is.
So, how about all you guys and gals out there that have had some work done lately let us know where the good shops are. I still hear some nice sounding radios from time to time, so I know there has to be some good shops left.
You'll be helping this "old fart" out, and I'm sure a lot of others too. Thanks, and happy trucking!

Awesome shop, very reasonable prices on everything from products sold, to installations, very knowledgeable, and they dont do or recommend ######## mods to your CBs.

I use J&L Electronics in Troutville Va. exit 150B across from truckstop. He has done all of my work for the past several years.

Just talked to Mesa. Going to stop by tomorrow afternoon. Shows how long it's been since I got any work done. I live 15 miles from them and never knew about them. Thanks, I'll let everyone know tomorrow how it went.

I'm getting the impression from the replies so far that there are still good CB shops out there, just not where they used to be. I'm going to put all of them in my note book so I can get work done if I need it where ever I am.
Keep letting us know where they are. It's a real help for sure.
    Happy Easter everybody!

I'm not sure how often you get up this way since I see you're from Florida. But I highly recommend Chucks CB Shop off of I-40 in Tennessee at the exit 126. He will fix ya up! He's worked on all of my stuff my whole life. He's the owner and tech. He hangs out on channel 20 he goes by WoodChuck. 73's!

I'm in TN all the time. Just there this week on way to Dallas. I'll keep them in mind if i need work done while I'm in the area.
I stopped at Mesa in Wildwood on Sunday to have my radio checked out. I'm really glad I did. Had a mess of problems.
    1. Antenna load was too close to antenna, so I switched to a different antenna with a higher load.
    2. Antenna bracket had poor grounding, so I switched to a stainless bracket.
    3. Coax was bad at connector for the antenna.
    4. Ground in radio from the circuit board to the radio case was broken.
    5. Talk back was in the wrong place.
    6. Transmitting off frequency.

I had him repair everything, and re-peak the radio. Now it dead keys right around 11 watts, and swings just under 60. It really puts out now.
I'm glad I went to Mesa. I can now recommend them if you need repairs in Florida. Thanks to pusherman for the tip. I owe you one.
