I understand the respect thing as well. I always go for the back row when parking early. But I do it mostly because I hate all the noise and bustle on the first row next to the pumps. If I can find a back row spot next to some grass on the driver's side, I'm in heaven. My head will be resting next to near silence... well unless of course a reefer pulls in on the right side... or (talking about respect) the guy next to me decides it can't wait and begins to regen his truck.

Your right about the "free" shower, though alot of them still have shower's, $8 to $12 most places and he usually got reimbursed ( I never worked for the companies so unless we showered together...mine wasn't "free").

If the BP is a T/S in the network they have a "perk's card", Lord know's I applied for everyone we could get....He bought a $70 ratcheting bar for the flatbed, 6 months and a 1k miles away, we used the point's to "buy" a shower.

I still have all the card's and have used the TA and Pilot one here in Tx even though he is driving a water hauler and I ...don't work at the moment...lol

Mack is harmless, he just needs someone to harass on the average Saturday night. :biggrin_255:
You'll find the amount of leeway given to you, on these forums, is amazing. Since I've become local, I've enjoyed getting drunk and accordingly getting on TTR several times since I got off the road back in '13. Since then, I've got into several very bitter arguments on these forums, one with Mack; if I recall correctly.

So, he's got an okay sense of humor. You're fine.

Also, stop using ellipses, it drives me crazy.

EDIT- so let's all just calm down here and let the OP get some tips on finding places to shut down at the end of the day. Mods/users- yes, this a blatant attempt at gaining brownie points. Deal with it. This particular bottle of Vodka has made me feel somewhat happy this evening, and it also has made turned me into a retrospective individual. Back to the point! How does this guy find parking at night.
Jesus Christ I need to get back out on the road...

Hmm. stayinback may not be politically correct, but I think his main point may have gotten overlooked by some. Whatever an old timer has to say about how it was is fine with me... I enjoy hearing about the good old days. And maybe he was just bragging, exaggerating a little. I owe an old timer the benefit of the doubt. Heck, this is the kind of stuff talked about at the Round Table. And I really don't think he's going to be bothered much by keyboard commandos... even though he's got the intestinal fortitude to apologize just in case he offended anyone. Give the guy a break! Sheesh!

Just a suggestion... many truck GPS units have good info. My randmcnally 720 has a way to search for Walmarts' that allow overnite/break parking.. I think the others might also.

    Indeed I have.

Well, the problem I have is that it is my responsibility as a staff member to help keep things civil in here. We go to great lengths to that end, and so far that has been a winning formula for us.

    I appreciate that, sir.:)

    Yeah, ok...

No problem, as long as folks observe our rules.

    Let's not rehash that battle.

    ...Most of the time.;)

Yeah, we know you're trying to suck up.

    Otherwise, well said sir.

Well I'm out of Vodka, but still have 5 more Sierra Nevada's in the fridge...so I've got that going on for me, which is always good thing.

BTW, Mack. I just revisited our clutch braking adventure from back in January. Just a few things:

    • I still smack the clutch brake
    • Banned or not, the `ol stay busy trucker is still around, he resided under a number of names and reigned in his behavior until he was able to keep an account which is still active and posted on, to this day. Why is he not banned?
    • Still not working for you!
    • All of that was taken out of context. It was hilarious.- See driver title. I AM THE CLUTCH DESTROYING KING, BOW DOWN, PEASANTS!

If you ain't got a sense of humor, you ain't got nothing. Guys, it's just a forum, chill.
