So I believe a read a post somewhere that states that Werner forbids engine idling. Is this SOP in the industry? How do they expect a driver to sleep in summer months? That's nuts!

If they don't give you an APU then what do they expect you to do? Put the windows down and feel comfortable sleeping that way? Seems like it would be asking for trouble. Just idle it if you really need to and tell them to go fly a kite. It is no different than leaving the kids in a parked car in the summer while running inside to the grocery store or whatever. Somehow I guess people become a bit more disposable as soon as they get that CDL ...

You know alot of places are going anti idle. Now the collection of village idiots that come up with these bylaws and state laws are barking up the wrong tree, first they should be looking at forcing manufacturers in better insulating trucks so they can be comfortable, second they should be forced to sit in a truck when it is 100 degrees out until they understand what it is like for a driver. But we all know the monkeys that make these idiotic rules are not the ones who are in the trucks now dont we.

yes,it is nuts.
but' we have people that think it is our job to be quite and roll over.
"we are being GREEN" saving energy. .04/hr in my Volvo with the idle bumped up a notch.

it used to be part of doing business. we idled to get a good nights sleep to be safe.
their salespeople are paid for the motels while out on the road doing their job.
think of it as the same expense.
only they don't pay for our meals. -
Schneider gave me crap for the same thing! They got me stuck in Laredo Texas for 3 days and my truck said it was 119 degrees out. Never once offered me a hotel room. They called me and said I was idling to much. I quit after that. I idled for 3 day and only used an eighth of a tank

I have a Centramatic APU on my Pete. Works like a charm. Not too long ago I was in a truckstop in Phoenix AZ, next to an old freight liner driven by one of our friends from India. Yes, he had the windows rolled down, but streuth it was 104deg!! For crying out loud.
Bottom line, you've got to have an APU if states really come down on idling.
The bozos in Govt have got their panties in a twist over this bogus climate change. It's not going away anytime soon and we are sitting ducks.
All this crazy legislation is aimed at us. We have to comply, or pay a stiff fine.Numb Thanks this. -
Raiderfanatic Thanks this.

That's total BS.....what's the point in having a sleeper if you can't sleep in it!
