I keep hearing more and more about Central Drivers setting with out loads.
But I keep seeing more and more Swift trucks pulling Central Refers.
If they are going to share the refer loads, share the dry box loads too.....

Why am i not suprised that a swift truck is pulling one of our trailers. Heck i have tarps i should hook up to a flatbed trailer and have them give me flatbed loads. My last 3 loads have all been dry correction last 5.... i am starting to wonder why I have a reefer unit.

I spot for a factory once in awhile that central has a spotter at full time. Well I was told by one of the full time spotters there (whom can identify himself on here if he'd like) that if a swift driver comes in with a swift reefer trailer to pick up a preloaded central trailer that We are not allowed to load that swift reefer trailer they dropped with a central load. So basically we lose out on a trailer. There have also been swift drivers coming in pulling central trailers. And we just act like they drive for central as far as loads and trailers go.

So seriously why have i been pulling swift dry van trailers and why are swift trucks pulling our trailers. The way i understood it central is now a division of swift right?

From what I have been told, if you are a Central truck pulling a Central trailer you are pulling a Central load.
If you are a Central truck pulling a Swift trailer your pulling a Swift load.
You can not put a Central load (dry box load) in a Swift trailer but you can put a Swift load in a Central trailer.

i have also been told that (this by a Swift "mentor" who was told this by his DL) that if a Swift driver with more seniority with Swift than that of a Central driver, the swift driver gets the load.

But hey, what do I know.... I'm just a dumb fricken truck driver!

It must really suck for the shippers/receivers that chose to deal with central over swift because of centrals level of customer service and decent drivers. I know when I was on coors I was forever being told horror stories by the receivers about swift drivers arriving with flipped or tipped loads. I even witnessed it myself in Gulfport MS when a swifty opened his doors to back in beside me, his load was all over the place and pallets of beer tipped over with no straps or locks to be seen. That was pure laziness and lack of driving ability on the part of the driver. I must say that I hate to see a great service record like central had go down the tubes at the hand of swift but such is life. I really enjoyed running for central and for that reason I was in denial that things would change as they did but man, what a Charlie Foxtrot it all turned out to be. Remember a better job is just an application away drivers!!

One of our stops tells us that Swift is continually late... Like 90% of the time.

I totally agree!! With our loads we drop in two places weekly.. Central's policy was USE LOAD LOCKS... SECURE THAT LOAD! We have been fighting weekly getting reimbursed for the load locks dropped in the trailers. It has to be 'in the notes' that the account requires load locks AND in the notes we see... It's not visible! We were also told by the settlement lady "O/O ... You get to take that cost as a tax deduction." ... If we were anyone else than who we are, (and let me tell you it's been tempting), we would have said "Fine... We just won't put load locks in, and YOU can pay for the pallet of yogurt on the floor because it slide off the top pallet." Sigh... That application is looking pretty good right now, and we have wired the money to pay off the truck!! Just waiting on the IEL side for them to payoff the holder of the title (Daimler)... Our plan WAS to stick with things for a year and a month to pay off the truck (yes our payments will be 1/3 of what we were paying for our lease w/over mileage), but ... Things might change ...

you could always tell them. Ok we are going to break the seal when we drop it just to get our locks out. Then send a message over the Qualcomm to cover yourself. Then when they refuse the load refer them to the person who's giving you a hard time.

i was talking to a kraft local the other day and he said he picked up a split load at a drop yard. Not a terminal. He grabbed the bills from the box. There was a note in there from the previous driver saying I broke the seal to get my load locks. He walked to the back and the guy didn't even re seal it.

That's been tempting as well, but if ANYTHING is wrong inside... And the seal is broken by us... Yeah, NO! I know it happens though... We see it when we do our weekly yard check.
