It's very easy, when you go to open it , don't open it slowly , grab the handle and let it snap out if place fast so the hook will release. It can't be done slowly or it will stay latched. Make sure to grab from the top and pull it backwards fast, try to move your hands out of the way too or it's going to really hurt. If your trying to open it slowly it will take forever. Let me know how you all make out.

    I have the same problem.
Its a bad design, it has
    nothing to do with how
    strong you are.

Silliest thing is some over paid engineer came up with that stupid design. Like the old bungy type was too easy to work , or they couldn't charge enough for them when they break.

If you are a company driver then there is no need to open the hood. Just have them check the oil when you are in the yard. Next thing you know they will be wanting you to check the belts and tires and all sorts of things, like everyday.

Sure you've figured it out by now
Too lazy to read all the replies.

It's a PITA, there's a trick to open/closing them. Once you get it you'll feel stupid.

I helped another driver figure his out a few weeks ago.

I had to pull down on the hood to get the hook to release. Some or most times I had to pull the hook out manually.

I drive a 2014 Cascadia, the hood latch is a bad design, then through in the millions of dollars freightliner engineers spent on their wind tunnel test just to design a truck that sounds as though the wind tunnel is still attached to the truck, this whole design is one big waste of money.
