I totally agree. Hood latch design sucks. Want us to do a good pre trip but design latches that take an Act of Congress to get to unhook and hook back. The hooking back is the bigger bee latch for me. Trying to get my hand in that small space to get the hook back in place while pressing down on the hood? This is the best Freightshaker could do? I sure do miss my old PB 379 some days. Except for the whole room in the sleeper thing and stepping over the console between the captains chairs. Great place to put something. In the walkway. LOL.
How do you open the Hood on a 2013 Cascadia Freightliner?

Would anybody like some cheese with their whine?
ironpony Thanks this. -
Aww come on guys! Those Diamler engineers have yer best interests in mind!!! Where else are ya gonna get a built-in excuse for why you skipped 99.8% of a pretrip inspection???

For me it's a two handed operation to open or close the latches. One hand pulls back on the lever while the other hand (by the fingertips) tries to pull back on the bottom "post".
I think the engineers at Freightliner were trying to create a design that would maximize difficulty and have the added benefit of pinching fingers and drawing blood. -

I had trouble raising the hood yesterday.I finally lifted up both sides of the hood at the wheelwells, broke the suction I guess.

Buy a real truck that will solve all Crapcadia problems.
Really the hood problem is indicative of all the other poor engineering in the Crapcadia.
The new trucks are almost impossible to open. I have seen mega-crap mechanics beat on the the rubber latch with a hammer and drift.
The best thing to do is pull down on the hood while trying to undo the rubber lope from it's catch. Almost no room to get your hands in there. Just a poor design. If they wanted the aerodynamic advantage they should have done what Volvo did.
When new, in cold weather they can be almost impossible to open. It gets better as the rubber gets old and stretches.
