I didn't really pay much mind to the specifics of that particular truck as far as what type of suspension it had and such. I just know it rode pretty nice, had lots of bells and whistles, and she moved. Getting to the destination was certainly a more enjoyable experience than getting back, which was done via Greyhound bus.

I always associated Cadillac with comfort. By that metric I'd say my experience driving and LIVING in KW's would place it somewhere closer to Ford. Nothing like developing a ringing in the ears from the noise, banging your head and knees due to lack of room, getting "clutch leg" unless you did heavy lifting to get ready for the truck, or getting tossed around like a rag doll on rough roads.

By comparison the newer Cascadia's I'm driving now are QUIET, roomy, easy to drive, easy to turn and back, easy on the clutch, and ... did I say "QUIET"? Can't say much for the plastics on the interior, but they are comfortable to live in.

Volvo.....780....Ishift.... all of the above...plus dining room table with seating, AND no clutch ;-)

Honestly...Freightliner/Volvo/pete/KW......Its an argument thats never going to be won. Its Ford Vs Chevy or 49's Vs radiers, Miller Vs Bud, ect... people have their favorites, and you wont pry them out of their choice in trucks.

Hey Krismarkham, while this isn't the actual truck I drove, it looked exactly like this, not quite as nice, but pretty close. Had a 400 BC with straight pipes, which got old after about a half hour. Sadly, it had a bad ending. After I quit, his kid started driving it, and fell asleep and rolled it. Goodbye Marmon.

This might be a possibility if someone there is feeling generous and they have several sitting in the lot.

Not always, if we have more then one style of available trucks the driver gets to look them over and pick which one he wants.

I got a choice, all depends on the company. They may have some system, they may just blindly assign you one, or you may get what I got and they'll say "These are available, go look at them and pick one". Smaller companies are more likely to involve you than a huge one.

    100% right!!!

As for Cadillacs. MY memory of them is they rode great if you could keep them out of the shop!!! My Grandparents LOVED Cadillacs. I can't ever remember them having anything else.(this was back in the '60s and '70s. And they were ALWAYS in the shop. Never could figure out what their deal was with them. But I sure wish I had their '65 convertible back right now! Still wouldn't purposely go out and buy one though. They're pretty junk.

But no matter what. When people get something in their head. Your NOT getting them to change or admit there might be something better. Harley-Davidson comes to mind for some reason. :biggrin_25521:

The best truck is the one YOUR comfortable with!!!

I just bought but have not taken delivery of a Volvo 780. I did that based on a test drive. I loved the Peterbilt 379EX that I drove. I have hated the Freightliners, like the Mack, never driven a Western Star. Of course I really am more of an airplane guy. Dad just bought a KA-250. His medical isn't any good. Gee, I wonder who is going to be doing the flying. :biggrin_25525:

I truck is a tool. Like a good hammer. All of them will drive the nail but get one that feels nice in your hand.
