From what I have seen the best dash cams are not being sold in truck stops. If that is the only place you are looking then your choices will be very limited and you are paying a premium price for poor cameras.
The GoPro is a great camera but if you want GPS linked to it as well it is not an option. Look at http://dashcamtalk.com/, http://www.carcamcentral.com/reviews/dash-car-camera-guide-buyers, or http://dashboardcamerareviews.com/ to see what is available and reviews of them. Most of those cameras are available on Amazon or ebay. The GS6000 A7 or LK-7900 ACE are
both very nice units that have GPS and good reviews.
Poor quality dash cams

If you don't want to do spend real money and use points, you go to a truck stop.

this is the one I have. I originally had the 4sight dashcam 2 but I hated it and took it back.
this does everything I need and want it to. Available at any TA or Petro station

I'm actually pretty sure that if you have the app for the gopro on your tablet/phone, you will be able to gps tag.

I've been using Daily Roads Voyager app on my smart phone and love it. It will display coordinates, altitude, speed etc. You can chose what is displayed, and what is recorded. Picture seems to be very good. This forum is responsible for me running a cam, and I love the security. Nobody is going to scam me or lie about a wreck!
Do any of you have troubles with your electronics overheating being next to the window? I'm in AZ and everything gets too hot. I have my dashcam at my headliner, tucked in where the sun doesn't reach it. (and I'm not talking about being left in the vehicle - this is while I'm in it - and air conditioned.)Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
if you get a usb to mini usb cable and a usb to mini-usb converter, you can plug in the dashcam to your rand mcnally, garmin or cobra gps and it will provide the gps location for you. (i know for sure it works on the 4sight dashcam 2), i think it will work on the blue tiger blackbox but not 100% sure.

Tried and true action cameras with GPS, there is only one I will use. Its #### near indestructible. Ive got one of the older cameras, but Contour makes some of the best cameras with GPS that is very accurate. Wifi capability to stream to phones and tablets allows for 64gb memory cards, and comes with all the mounts that youll want to mount it anywhere. Has an external microphone as well. I use contour cameras on my motorcycle when I ride, ive had it fall off and go down a the road, and get run over by a car, #### thing still works. They are a bit pricey, however they have top notch customer service. If the camera goes bad, you contact contour and they will get you a replacement.

Been looking at the newest one from Cobra. (CDR-830) Also been checking out the one from Blackvue. The DR500GW-HD. Both have gps so they work with google maps, but the Blackvue one is pricy.

Do a youtube search for "Techmoan" he has reviewed hundreds of dash cams and has some really good reviews of the good and bad ones. He asle has a website to that breaks down the price range cameras.
