Absolutely none. I've seen some pretty old people that were complete idiots.

Sure, I just bought a Volvo VNL 780 2015 with I-Shift would never go back to my 13sp Eaton. Mine has a Manual mode option if I want to shift myself, but I never use it. The "economy" and "performance+" modes do everything I need. There's no clutch pedal and the truck has a "clutch protection system" to reduce clutch strain and wear. Forget the "old school" lunacy. I drove a clutch and 13sp on my 2006 Volvo, and it was a good transmission and all, and I loved that too. But, for day-to-day grind in heavy traffic, on hills, and dangerous weather conditions, the I-Shift can shift better than the best human. For example, I used to keep the RPMs up above 13000 with a heavy load on a hill for fear that if I let RPMs drift down to 10000, I might mis-shift and end up lugging the engine into a dangerous deceleration spiral. The I-Shift is so good, it will let the RPMs drop all the way down--preserving fuel economy--then at the exact spot, shifts perfectly when it needs to. It's also works very well with the jake brake system to control descents. I-Shift is backed up by all sorts of controls that prevent dangerous situations from occurring. Among these: 1) hill assist--sensors automatically detect a hill situation during starting, using a combination of the brakes and clutch to avoid a roll back. Clutch is saved, and driver safely pulls away and up the hill. 2) traction control--computers use the ABS function of each wheel to compare revolutions to evaluate whether or not the truck is beginning to jackknife, then controls the situation automatically. 3) anti-roll--sensors on the frame consider whether the truck is at risk of roll-over on a turn, and actively prevents this by slowing the truck axle speeds. Early versions of this system has problems, but after a decade of development, I think Volvo has the best auto shift system. Now, when guys tell me they prefer a manual transmission, I ask "why?".

I find that driving with good working systems like the I-shift makes me a more relaxed and safe driver.:yes2557:

Very well said. 780 ishift. Set the cruise and ride . Even going up hill and down . People that criticize it hasn't drove it yet and stuck in the years of the Cat 4 mpg days. When I first drove the new d13 ishift.......OMG!!! Took about 2 red lights in traffic and I was in love. And with the full large one piece windshield and one piece large door windows it's like riding in a glass bubble (can see everything) on a cloud. 1750 torque in a 455 HP. Pretty nice. But I ordered the 500 HP and tuned to way I drive.

exactly!! I felt so safe and easily in tune with traffic and not stressed by 4 wheelers. Look in all past threads on here about breakdowns, engines in all the brands of trucks made last few years figuring out def system and I think I only seen one bad comment on a volvo. Totally different ride than others and I test drove them all. Now if Pete had a better engine choice than what they have I would have considered them.

With the Pete's ,for me,the biggest problem is no longer having the option off the Meritor Freedomline gearboxes which were the best pairing for their MX engine.

Few things: May be you didn't like it because you used to rev-it at 10000 to 13000 rpm. Also, let me know your experience with it after 500000-700000 miles. There is a reason why arrow sales and others are full of them. But, I hope it likes you as much as you like it.

what year makes you talking about? Not a single one at arrow near me? Take a glance at any Volvo dealerships for stock of them to any other brand of truck at their dealerships and tell me who has the least on their lots. They must not be having much of a problem now if your correct. And if you research threads on this truck I find the least complaints of this truck compared to any other truck on market. Go drive one. Trust me you won't complain then. The full windshield and door windows view alone with hood mirrors alone will win you over. Then the auto ishift in heavy traffic and light in big town. I was hooked in minutes and made my decision as such. JMO
