i stand corrected: post your experience after 6-8 years of driving it. Or, at 500000-700000 mi on the odometer. I'm sure that we all would like to know how it went.
as far as the reliability wise: dollar for dollar, nothing will beat the glider, if done correctly.

Your right. I haven't done miles in it yet. I can only compare to Pete,kW and freight shaker experiences of recent. And say your right. I'm sure their warranty will fix the problem . This is what's nice about this site and America ......agree to disagree. But I stand saying rather agree or not there's nothing like drivers who keep America running and wish ALL of us to be safe and wish all making money.

i have 320000 on mine and no problems. Just put new steers on, stopped in Va getting new centramatics now. The gliders are less technology but when are they going to phase them out?? What is the resale like on a glider?
What glider will give me the comfort, ride and quietness of the 780, NONE.
I dont want to own an old truck so 3.5 years I will be ordering my new one, mine will still be worth good money then, I will sell it and up grade!! Apparently with the newest technology the 2015-16 engines MAY have no EGR at all and no DPF just the DEF fluid?? And suppose to be over 10mpg?? It will be interesting to see if they make that work.

Elroy, where have you heared/read that there wll be no DPF?
I know that the next step is capturing lost heat.
And that Cat is testing a 6 stroke engine.(but that has still a lot off issues to resolve)

It was written in an industry am but I don't remember which.. I'll try to find it again. Apparently SCR can be tweaked enough that EGR and DPF can go away POSSIBLY?? I'll believe it when I see it, but it sounds good. Most of the problems peopl have is with EGR and when it goes bad it screws up the DPF.

As far as Ishift is concerned here is my 2c:
First came the wheel, then the sliced pan followed by the light bulb, best thing since then has been the Ishift. I wouldn't go back to any other box, Iv drove and owned them all but this is the only one I would consider now.

Elroy,IVECO is running EURO 6 which is very close to EPA 10 with a fixed blade turbo and no EGR but with DPF.(that is their claim but there is a small tube running from the exhaust to the intercooler with a small valve on it)
The "debate" is now as to which is better fuel wise.
    VGT+EGR vs fixed blade turbo.

At this point i really don't know...............that's why i will run my old truck for a few more years and see how things pan out.

That was my plan. Just spent a bunch of money in my Pete and was planning the single turbo/6NZ swap.. And well... It all went up in flames...[IMG]

just wanted to write that last night,

    scania also got 4engines with SCR only, 320 5cil 360 5cil, 370 6cil, and 410 6cil

my friend tried 410 year ago when they release streamline he says it goes same as 420 e5 if not better and in his opinion there is no need for more

scania say big fleets wanted this , i think they should make weakest v8 with this way, many people buy those because they want them not because they need them and operate for long period so simplicity would be good

fixed turbo is almost 3timmes cheaper,no egr=no problems, lower fuel consumption, better for oil

but it remains unclear what would be better in long term especially on dpf
