Indeed only a handful. Probably not more than 5-10. In other words 99.9999% chance any company i go to will be better than swift. Especially since i know the obvious ones to avoid.

well unless your drive for central you are based outa phenoix. Either way if yeah want to just ship the more endorsements you have the more it helps. Tanker and hazmat are 2 good ones to have along with well just get them all cant hurt will only help. Also if you are unhappy with swift why? Their are alot of things you can do to change that.

I'm not unhappy with swift. I'm just exploring my options and doing research. I got coded 3 days ago. Haven't even left with a mentor yet. Truth is i don't even know swift yet ! ;) got doubles/triples, tanker and waiting currently for the background check from tsa to come back for hazmat. once I secure hazmat I'll apply for TWIC and get my passport.

Well ####. You got your stuff together. Man just go with the flow for awhile. Way way WAY to early to start talking about jumping ship.

Isn't it amazing how things have changed. My first driving job they just hired me, put me behind the wheel, & away I went. I remember unloading at a place in California years later & a dock hand asked me about truck driving, said he was thinking about going to truck driving school.

I asked him, "What is truck driving school, never heard of it?"

He them asked me, "You did not go to school to learn how to drive?" I don't believe he believed me. Them he asked if he could set in my truck to see what its like. I let him, the first thing he asked was, "Why do you have two gear shifts, what's this?"

Now days it seems to drive a truck you have to have school, & experience.

My first job driving diesels, a high school friend of mines father worked there. Every time I got around him I would ask him questions trying to learn what I needed to know, & he was a big help.

True enough. But I like to think about having really good options for step 2 in my career. As of now I don't know any good companies. I'm just planning ahead man Systems Transport will take me after 6 months but I don't know what they pay and if it would even be better than swift.

Well its good to look ahead but the reality is (and I am guessing you haven't drove before) you need to pay attention to the here and now. All that book stuff is good and all but alot of it is better left in the books. Plus not to be rude but alot of people dont have what it takes to be out here in your own head for weeks at a time. I would concentrate on going solo first then look at it again after a few months solo. You could love otr or be like hay I want to go local or I want to do tankers. But first you have to go solo. Hope that makes sense. Lol

What a great attitude to have. You won't last in this industry long.
