If you want to hear grown men ask where the bears at and what the coops doing every 5 minutes, then tell the person. They can't help them because they just got on the highway. Or they ain't seen nothing back that way when there was two full growns in the median 5miles back. Then ya get you a CB Radio. If you don't care to hear that nonsense you will be just fine. Oh ya not to forget the grown men who act like they haven't seen a woman in shorts in 20 years. Kinda embarrassing if you ask me

Break 19 we have smokey the bear hiding in the trees up here at mile 1029 just past the Fort Nelson Inn, so do you have an app for that since there is almost no cell service up there. Or Break 19 the coup is open on the Yukon side have an app for that one."semi" retired and joseph1135 Thank this. -
I took my cb out 7 yrs ago and I seemed to have managed just fine without it.
For shprs/recvrs that tell me to turn to channel XX, I tell them, I don't have a cb. They'll either make a note of it or ask me for my phone number. Actually, I am asked more often for my phone number than being told to change to channel XX.
Walmart DC in Tomah, WI actually gives out those pager devices like you get at restaurants when you have to wait for a table.
Regarding scales, I generally know what my axles are weighing and my equipment is not shoddy, so I don't worry about scales. But in the event I have to skirt around them, I'll drive around the scales. It's no sweat off my brow.
Unexpected traffic jams. Not always, but sometimes the detour can take just as long as the delay.
Lane shutdowns. Anecdotal evidence has shown me that the lane that moves the fastest is the lane that is shutdown. Besides, even if I chose the wrong lane, it's no big deal.
And the region I drive in, they have those message boards over the roadway that notify of events up ahead.
Recently I had a scanner in the truck and I had ch 19 programmed in it. Two observations I made: A) other drivers asking what the scales were doing still go unanswered most of the time. B) immaturity still abounds with declarations of wearing panties, Tarzan calls, moaning women. Same ol same ol still going on.
In my opinion, a cb radio is about as essential as a gps; a novelty in the truck but not necessary to have. And who knows, maybe I'll blow the dust of my radio one day and put it back in the truck.Last edited: May 19, 2014

Never leave home without it. Some shippers want you to have one, find out where the bears are hiding at, if you get one with NOAA weather you can get the weather conditions for where youre at, especially helpful in the Midwest during tornado season. Find out road conditions from other drivers from accidents to closures, and anything else happening out on the road.

A cb is a basic form of communication that was invented before the cellphone so truckers could communicate between each other. I haven't found anyone out here I'd want to communicate with so maybe that's why I don't use it. It's always arguments about stupid stuff, guys ######## about the industry, or that one guy that seems to be in every city in the us with no panties on.....
