ABF Checker/Driver + Dock/P&D vs ABF over the road??? What's better?

Took my drug test and DOT physical today. (They finally approved my app.)

 

Congrats 2 U....Can"t complain about steady work...Looking into it, spoke 2 a sup. told me they do there training program over there in Pa. did U go thru it?

 

No, no training program. All my training was on the job. We need drivers so bad at our terminal. I worked 12 hours monday and 13 1/2 hours yesterday.

 

An ABF driver told me one time they don't send you to driving school if you've already got 2 years experience.

Should hopefully be going in for a road test tomorrow and to finish the onboarding paperwork.

 

Do they require HazMat?

 

Yes hazmat and double/triples

Ok gotta ask if you don"t mind cause it sounds good, what terminal you out of, i see you"r location say"s Pa., i"m in N.y. on the island, yeah that Amityville, got the doub"ds & Trips, tank, no haz, but they usually give you time 4 that, and how"s the pay, same as or less than N.Y. scale?

 

Do the P&D guys ever go out to help with linehaul?

I'm seeing a local ABF terminal looking for P&D guys on a 4 day on 3 off schedule, which sounds great. Just wondering if that's the norm for city guys and whether they're allowed to pick up an extra day to cover a road route if they're short handed.

I've never been in a union so I'm not sure how that effects things like that. Thanks
