I agree. I left about the same time.
I been out here for 40 years.
I was with Crete before the idiotic accident ocurred and after. The reason all 3 companies are a bad place to be is because they have a panel of moron attornies who know nothing about the trucking industry, making CYA policies to protect the company and screw the driver.
By the way, that piece of unethical garbage, Tonn, does if fact feel that way about drivers. It is well known by those of us without our heads in the sand.
I agree, 100%. Mr. Acklie was OK by me. I would see him at 3 times a year (always at Christmas).
I hope your change was positive. I loved my time at Crete, but it has gone to hell quickly.
I was one of a group that tried to get changes made similar to what you spoke of and wrote in your letter. We were shot down without even so much as a "thanks, but no thanks." We tried in 2006.
You were right. I left 2006. The handwriting was on the wall for Crete. It was a great place to be, but not now.

You a funny guy.
What you are asking for is not the normal in any irregular route OTR driving positions. The closest you will find is in private fleets such as Wal-Mart. That is where I suggest you submit an application. -
I talked to a Crete recruiter today and wasn't really impressed. I was told I would be with a trainer for 2 months. Training would be split up in 2- 4week periods and being home 2 days in between these periods. 34 cents a mile for the first year after training. I've received lot better offers than this.

I worked for Crete. I would really like to go back but have a little problem going on.
It was true for me that not getting home for 4-6 weeks sucked, but Crete is a really great place for company drivers. My first year was $61k+, and I usually got about $55k after that. Other companies I have worked for are CR England (had to start somewhere), Marten, Knight; Crete head and shoulders above the rest.
Remember too that practical miles are like almost another 2 cents on top of already high industry pay such as 44 cents. For me, I had money coming out my ears. A company that is actually willing to pay their drivers well will in most ways treat them well across the board.
How does Crete pay their drivers well? As I was told in orientation: NO CHEAP FREIGHT (or very little). -
And how long ago did you work there? Things change.

I am not a cheerleader for Crete, but I tell the truth from my own mind: they were the best company I worked for. Was I pisssed sometimes? Sure. Are they perfect? No way.PuritanProwess Thanks this. -
drvrtech77 Thanks this.
