Are you an OO? Even then, insurance should cover that at no cost to you (if you got windshield coverage), and if a company driver they should cover it.

i just replaced my windshield because i didnt want some barney giving me any grief because of it

One would think, tho, that they have to give you the chance to get it fixed. I sure as heck wouldn't do it out of my own pocket. -
On my Volvo, I mount my satellite plug & play radio so it's just I over my dash, and it's well within the area were the truck's hood blocks the view. As for GPS, I don't run one at all, and I don't really plan on buying one since I run regular routes. I seen some guys running their big-screen gps right in the middle of the windshield,,, are you kidding me?
