Thanks to Lepton 1 and JBee for those examples. It's still sort of confusing but I guess I'll figure it out one day!

168 hours from the start of your last restart.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
The way Ive always told someone to do the recap is to count back 7 days on your log (including the day you are on), add those hours up for those 7 days then subtract that from 70. That will tell you how many hours you will have for tomorrow. To check it, go back and add the past 8 days(including the one youre on). If your 8 day total adds up to more than 70, you have a mistake in your recap and/or log somewhere. That's how Ive always done it. Of course, if you got a 34 hr restart at the beginning of the week, you don't have to go back the full 7 or 8 days. Just go back to the day your restart ended.

Of course this is not a political thread so I won't continue with my lecture. -
This darn New Math...
It's still confusing. Must've been invented by some accountant who used a computer with the old "divide by zero" bug... -
The only time you have to take a 34 hour restart is if you want your 70 hours back but if your 1st and 2nd day of your 8 day recap shows 0 hours, you will have to do a restart before you can move if your recap shows you have 70 hours on duty.

It's easier to actually do it than explain it.
Once you start keeping them again, you'll see how simple it is. -
One thing I don't like about a lot of companies that let drivers do their reset at home is that they get you home long enough to do a reset then they want you out on the road a minute after. Not long enough to take care of things at home.
