I am ex-military and a expert in hand to hand combat. The best thing to do is to have two separate key chains. That way if you are ever hijacked you can just give them the keys to the truck without having to give up your car keys and house keys.
You are not being paid enough to fight crime. That is Spiderman's job.

However, with that said, I'm not going to be without in the rest of the states because of the few, tying the hands of those trying to survive an encounter, behind their backs. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
Couple of tips.
Look before you go. Sit there for a minute and observe the area you're in. Wait and watch.
Be situationally aware of your surroundings at all times and stay that way. Don't get complacent.
Walk like you have a pair, not ####y either, looking for a fight, but confident.
Maintain a low profile. Don't go into Johnny's Truck Stop, at 3am in the morning, that's in the middle of bad guy territory or the middle of nowhere for that matter, and purchase large ticket items such as a GPS, TV, Sat Radio, CB etc for the whole world to see. Save it for hours of daylight and a parking spot not 3 miles from the store. (Not the fuel island either.....)
Don't lollygag around going from pt. A to pt. B.
Have a "Throw down wallet" for just that. A couple of business cards and 10-15 dollars in singles slightly poking out of the wallet, so that when tossed to the ground, they can see it. If you get stopped, act like you're going to give them the wallet Toss it a few feet in the opposite direction of where you want to wind up. That's what they're after and 9 times out of 10, that's what they'll go for once they see it. Break contact once you do.
I carry a MK3 around with me in addition to 1 or 2 other items. If I ever have to use it, the stuff will stop a charging rhino. If I get questioned about it later, I keep a can of Permethrin in the truck. If they want to know what I used, I'll show them the can. No agency I know of (None) is going to do a forensic comparison on a subject, who tried to assault or rob somebody, to see what the chemical compounds he's now covered in, consists of.
For pre trips, I still have my Magcharger I do my walk arounds with. Hefty, heavy and easy to swing. And whatever it hits, it going to snap, break or crush that area.
There's more, but that's just my .02 and change.NavigatorWife and shortcut Thank this. -

If you know you are in trouble, a flame thrower can help.... Starting fluid and a lighter....
Officer I just happened to be lighting a cigarette while holding the starting fluid and I must have accidentally pressed the spray nozzle while the lighter was lit.Mev Thanks this. -
