Mev, are you from Cali? And are you relocating to TX? I'm curious because I applied to Poly-Trucking in March and have only gotten a vague response that they are still currently processing my Application. I live in Phoenix but wouldn't mind moving if need be.

Wow what a long day and what looks to be a real doozy tomorrow if I can't get worked in early at Walgreens DC here in Rogers, MN. Unloaded early in Effingham and rolled over to Edwardsville, IL for one of the lightest loads I have ever hauled, just over 1000 pounds. Lots of back road driving makes for a long 711 miles:) Scheduled for a 1500 unload but problem is I have another Effingham load for tomorrow which delivers Friday morning so might be a real long day and night. They hooked me up with that load in an effort to find something returning to GP so I can get home to sign closing papers on the new digs.

Also avoided hitting another deer in the front of my truck as I was able to swerve in time that it clipped the rear of the trailer and didn't do any damage. Don't know if the cars behind me were so lucky as it was dark thirty and they were hauling ### behind me.

Once again, Poly delivers. I pick up my home load tomorrow (Friday) then deliver in Jacksonville, FL on Monday...and I get a whole week off. Hopefully the last big time off for the year so I can start cranking out some major miles before the snow flies again.

And to quote JD..."I Love my job'

Honestly, if you combine the average length of haul, the lack of micro-management, the above average pay (by the hub) and the amount of home time you are allowed here...why would anyone want to work for any other irregular route trucking company...seriously!! Yes, they have their quirky ways of doing things here sometimes...but even with the per mile pay of places like Crete, there is no way I could ever afford to take the time off I have this year and stay current on my debts...for the first time in a while, I can truly say I am happier here than any where I have ever worked...and I can be proud of the company I am representing.

Ok...enough with the horn tooting...back to you in the studio.....

For those who enjoy using their phone as an MP3 player, or are like me who stream audio...but hate the headphone wires getting in the way...I started using a new toy lately...it is a bluetooth to aux adapter that is usb powered (not battery with usb charger). It allows full stereo and even has hands free phone capabilities...although I don't know how good the phone part would work in a noisy environment like a truck. I have been using it since I left home last and the only bad thing I can say about it is the wires are a bit small where it plugs into the stereo, but it sounds as good as a headphone jack ever did. And the unit has pause, fwd and rev buttons so if you want to pause your tunes before cruising thru a scale, you can. It is made by a company called iClever, and it is called the Himbox...it was around $40 on amazon. It gets a 4 star rating from me...woulda been 5 if the wires weren't so tiny...but it works great so far with my Dyson Turbo Data Vortex.

Not as of the last time I was there which was about a month ago. I had a small lumper fee but unload time was pretty quick and they allowed overnight parking.
