Considering pulling the trigger and getting a HP 150 Mobile printer. One of the drivers in our fleet uses one and thinks it is just the ticket. About $320 on Amazon. I need it to print directly from Samsung phone or tablet, both Android OS, bluetooth. I am told it does that with the purchase of a $16 app. I am also told it doesn't work with Apple OS. Anyone have any experience with one of these? The scanner function is a secondary consideration, printing is what I really need. Space is a real premium for me, so the additional cost is worth it if it is rugged enough.

I tried a laser printer in the truck and don't really recommend it. Mine the ports broke and the power draw was high even though I have a big inverter.

My $30 canon fell off my lower bunk and onto the floor. A couple pieces came out but it still works. I don't think the laser could handle that at all. Inkjets are smaller and use a lot less power and due well with movement= good for truck imo.

any wifi printer will print from your phone. no need for something in the $300 range.

you have to pay for A APP. but hp and dell have apps in the market place. don't know about other brands.

the only drawback. is that wireless printing only works when your hotspot is turned on. if you have no internet. then your outta luck. the hotspot won't connect if the signal is dead.

my printer was a $50 special from walmart 5 years ago. and it will print wirelessly. from my laptop, phone, or tablet. through the phones hotspot.

if you have a wireless router. you might be able to print using the wifi on your phone. i don't have a router and haven't looked into it.

I just bought the Epson WorkForce WF-M1030

to outfit some trucks. It is black and white only and it is wireless.

I'm not going to advertise for any particular place to buy it but I paid $69 and a Google search is your friend.

What we needed in this case was - small, reliable, black and white invoices and logs printing, wireless option. Not color photos and the like. And the drivers don't want to go buying extra color print cartridges. It is also not a copier or scanner.

disclaimer: I have no business affiliation with Epson whatsoever. But I am a fan of their printers and use them in my dusty shop for many years without problems that I had with another major brand. Just a good tip for this thread.

I normally just agree with everything DieselBoss says. He has a great company and I have purchased many things from him in the past and will continue to do so in the further. However, until he gives me a free hat, I am not going to tell you to check out his website and spend your money with him.

Having said that, let's move on. I have a HP 7520 photosmart, printer, scanner, copier. I got it a best buy. I use the same type in my house. When I got the one for the truck, I put velcro on the bottom of the HP in two places and attached it to the top bunk. Cost was $149 for the HP and $4 for the velcro pads. It works with Wifi from both my tablet and laptop. I have photo paper available to print off color photos of any sign that happens to jump out at me and get injuried in the process.

Oh, and my cap size is 7 1/4 if anyone cares.

I use a Cannon IP 100 mobile printer with the optional bluetooth adapter so I can print from my mobile phone or tablet and its also small enough to fit in my backpack.

seems like most new printers are smaller these days.

i bought a new hp as my old hp didn't want to work. UNTILL i bought the new printer. so now it works. new printer sitting in box ready for use. but the box is about 1/3 the size of my current hp.

Bought the Epson XP-400, really like it, perfect size for cabinet, has wireless print app for droid. 3 minutes after getting settlement report it's printed, very cool. Ink cartridges are too small though.
