That's one way to look at it. Another way to look at it is that they have to seek justice for lost life and no amount of time behind bars is truly equitable to a life terminated before its time.

Also, the fact this case is very much in the public eye kind of ties their hands, which is fortunate for the family of the deceased.

I agree with you but everytime a fatal accident happen the truck driver will be more than likely get charged with manslaughter and other charges and one of their main reason is that they always think the truck driver is tired or was sleeping behind the wheel.

That's a harsh reality in this industry, and it'll never change.

No they're not. They're not hard enough sometimes. I know, not a popular opinion. But this guy caused a major accident on a major thorofare and caused a death and god knows what other kinds of injuries. By his own negligence.

Killing someone isn't trying to make a living. Someone lost their life and others are seriously injured, possibly with life altering injuries.

joseph do u even know what your saying as a driver? if we make a mistake didn't catch something in front of us and we hit then on accident we should just go to jail for 20yrs or so

we don't make enough $ for that kind of reasonability

It's your job to "catch something". That's why you're a professional.
