Sprint has been bleeding customers for the last 2 years.....got worse after Softbank took over and the upgrade didn't come on line as planned. Softbank is angling to buy and merge Tmobile with Sprint so they can compete with the other 2 big boys.
FYI.....

We were customers of Sprint for many years, like BEFORE Sprint bought Nextel and screwed it up, until we got sick and tired of the constant dropping of calls and the only sometimes working 3g service. They told us they were working to provide us with better service for years. We couldn't even keep calls connected in our own home, we were only 3.5 miles from the nearest tower. We got sick enough of the lies that we switched to Verizon and couldn't be happier. We have 4g all the time and have hardly dropped ANY calls.

Very bad idea from a technical standpoint. The two networks use incompatible technologies, so they would still have to keep both networks active until everyone is on LTE, and that's not happening for several years.
They would effectively have to replace all the Sprint phones with equivalent T-Mobile phones.chalupa Thanks this. -

Very good, had the same thoughts. Looks like a disaster in the making. The technology is completely incompatible. Another thought is the band spectrum. Different again...so what abandon the Sprint network completely ? That looks expensive and time consuming.
The jest of the article refers to paying customers....and by buying T-Mobile they would increase their paying customer base as it were which would allow them to compete with the big boys on the cash flow side.
Just give me back my GTE Mobilenet / Cingular and leave well enough be. -
After my contract with Sprint was done, I made sure I had a zero balance on my account, and closed the account. Six months later, I get a demand letter from Sprint for around $250. The phone had been shut off for those six months (got a "No Svc" on the screen), but nobody had bothered to tell the billing department...
I tossed the demand letter in the drawer, along with the 2 or 3 that followed. That's the last I heard from Sprint. -
Sprint is the swift of the cell phone industry
