If OSP pulled and wrote you for 4 over then there's more to the story. That area of 71 is OSPs money tree. They don't need to look for nitpicky stuff. The AVERAGE ticket they write through there is in excess of 80 mph in the 65 zone and they write more between the Cincy line and the scales than any other stretch in the state. More than double the next biggest enforcement area.
For all the bad rap OSP gets I have yet to run into one looking to play supercop. Until very recently I ran about a third of my miles in Ohio, the majority at 4 over. What I didnt do was tailgate or jump lanes constantly.

If you received a ticket for going 4 miles and hour over the posted speed limit it is because the officer in question or a lawyer has already done you a favor. They write the ticket for going less then 5 over or it is a plea bargain to get it down to under 5 over. So those advising you to go to court and fight it do not have all the facts. I read and read waiting to see you set them straight so maybe I am wrong.
What hurts you getting hired is the ability to be insured at a reasonable rate. One ticket for 4 miles over in a personal vehicle will not effect you. Had you received a ticket for what you really were doing it would. So, pay the fine and write a nice thank you letter to the clerk of the court.gpsman Thanks this. -
All the drivers I know personally that have gotten tickets here in Ohio for 4-5 mph or that infamous 1 mph over ticket were pulled over for either going faster than that or being in the left lane on the turnpike or weaving in and out of traffic and the cop gave them a break by not writing the ticket for the real offense.
I've lived and driven in Ohio my whole life and have always ran 3-5 mph over even in construction zones and NEVER have had a problem, it makes me think we're not hearing the whole story. -
Wooly you been hanging around with gpsman a bit too much lately???

No one has mentioned that fact you always fight a ticket never just pay it!. Reason your licensed in maybe california and receive a ticket in maryland. The officer says oh it's not a big deal just pay it not a moving violation. It might not be a problem in the state ticket was issued but it maybe a huge problem in state you hold your license from!. Every state has different vehicle codes and access points accordingly.
Wooly Rhino Thanks this.
