So I'm kind of creeping on all these threads, looking for hazmat jobs in Austin specifically. My husband has hauled fuel for 9 years in CA and now in Denver and we're looking to move to Austin to help out my parents. Are there crude jobs there, or are they all farther out? He's up for anything and his record is clean- we're just having a hard time finding jobs (online) that pay 65k+ and are out of Austin. We were looking for Sunoco, HD5 and some of the companies that you've listed above. I would LOVE any information you might have.

Hey all. So my experience with swift has been ######. Literally. im with a trainer whos been pissing In a jug behind me while im driving. Had instructed me to pull over on the shoulder so he could take a crap. (My fault actually) The truck reeks of dirty socks and we havent showered in a few days. My driving is fine, but im not cool with the "dirty trucker" type. Thats fine if your by yourself, but this sucks. OTR is not for me. Im already at the end of my rope. Im stuck In a sleeper with thjs guy who pounds smoked sausage and tomatos and then burps them up...im more of a local guy I guess. Wish I knew where to start in phoenix to find something local. I do t even know how to apply. Im on my phone now and we barely stop. He seems like the superhero type that takes every trip no matter what the time constraint is. Im not one that is big on pressure and feels like im under the gun. Aaack.

This isn't the "OTR Lifestyle". It's his and he's a scumbag. You control how your life will be. Don't look at him as the be all end all. He's not. Most of us are decent people.

Don't know the name of them right now, but there's 3 milk tanker companies in Phoenix. Try them; you need tanker endorsement. Probably have to hit the dairy farms in the wee hours, but it's a good job.

Joeseph, im not judging all otr guys. I can just see where it can create some bad habits. I like to be home nights and weekends. There was a chance I wasnt going otr for training then they changed it last minute on me.
Chinatown thanks for the headsup. Early mornings dony bother me. Being I a truck nonstop does. Of course the current conditions dont help either. Im not licensed in az and currently dont have a place to live. Id have to use. Friends address I guess and hen test for the t endorsement. Im looking at some ltl companies too. Even if it were dockwork. Doing this stuff on a cell stinks. Lol

I know you can't spell for ####!!!! Ha ha ha!!! Listen. China has some good ideas. And here's another one. Try it. By yourself. Bank that money, and then go local. If you've got no place to live, no significant other, no kids, get on the road, get a cooler to save money, and bank that cash. Then get a place and go local.

Update to my situation.I had a talk with my trainer last night. He asked me if I was done cause he felt a couple days ago I was done. I said I think I am, but I need to talk tk my driver manager first...or whoever is my direct supervisor. I cant do anything til I talk to her. Im not gonna just up and leave, but this guy wont even let me drive the truck. Im trapped. Hes In Tbe sleeper wjth no hours left. I have to go take a crap... (no im not gonna go outside).

Update to update...hes taken my keys now...youd think we had some big blowout, but its been cool casual talk. he is just uncooperative when I say anything and wont let me in on the decision making process. Talk about feeling trapped.

I guess he just wants to drop me at a terminal when he has hours. Fyi....up until our talk last night there was no problems. My driving has been spot on. Not so much as a comment about anything ive done wrong.

    What a mess.
