Ok. Help me out here. I have a 2014 Cascadia with the new integrated antennas up in top of the cab. I can't access them as they are up under the air foil. Here's my question.
With my Cobra 29, I get 1.3 on channel 1 and 1.5 on 40. Why would my antenna light come on with such low readings. I'd like to put my General Lee in the truck, but I'm not sure how safe it is.
For the record, since it is a company truck, policy is that only the shop can install radios since they go up on the overhead compartment.
Solutions or recommendations anyone?
SWR's and the new Freightliner Cascadia integrated antennas

If that is the correct SWR, I would ignore the light or have it adjusted so it doesn't come on so easy.

Have it checked with an antenna analyser.

That integrated antenna is not safe for your general Lee it may work just fine for your cobra 29 if the swr checks out OK but it is a flat coil antenna so it will never receive or transmit as good as it should even if you get the swr right and as for the general Lee the power it puts out will blow the converter box out that they put in the trucks to use the antenna for your am/FM radio

Gotta love freightliners buy a bird perch mount at a cb shop it mounts using the bottom screw to your mirror bracket.

yep the integrated antenna in the roof is junk for anything over 4 watts. put a mirror mount, coax, antenna and set swrs and put your general lee in it. the cobra swr lights have not been set right at the factory the last couple of years and sensitivity is being set too low. I have had a 1.1 swr and the swr light come on a new cobra 29, any tech can adjust it properly.

there is a link in this >thread< on how to adjust the light internally. Apparently its a common problem on the 29. Mine was doing it aswell, turned out to be a loose antenna connection on the back of the radio in my case.
I believe the link is on page 5.Last edited: Jun 29, 2014
