If that makes you feel better to say that so be it. What have I said that is untruthful, I will be glad too explain. Apologize in advance for the misuse of the 2 word as my wife will grade my grammar later.

How long do you have to be a driver before Schneider will let you sign up for their IC Choice Program?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's 1 year for a new driver. With that said, more than a year may be needed to not only get the driving down, but the ins and outs of trucking in general before you go to choice. Everyone is different, but I've been driving for 11 years and it still can be a challenge on the choice board trying to string together a nice set of loads. I may be slower than some lol.... There are some days I want to throw the laptop out the window, but as of now, I wouldn't have it any other way. Getting to know SNI's freight base is good start and you will know a lot of it after roughly a year or so as a company driver and after that if you feel comfortable running choice, by all means go for it. Just get the basics down first and take it from there. Just my .02, but it may not be worth a penny lol..Good luck in whatever you decide.

They want 1 year experience as an o/o from another carrier OR 6 months as a company driver with SNI.

That is of course, the minimums... I know that I would not have been ready to start doing this at 6 mos experience.

Well finally had to start running recap hours today. Got good hours set up for them so gonna ride it out on recaps until I get back home. I really was planning on going home today, but I decided to check the load board right before I pulled into the gate at the delivery in NC to see if just in case another regular load of mine had shown up, and sure enough, without fail, it was there. I honestly stared at it for 5 minutes unable to decide if I was gonna go home or go for the load. Decided I would leave that up to whether or not there was an empty here that would work for this customer as they are very picky about trailers. At first, there wasn't one, so that was that! I'm going home!!

Then I'm walking out to my truck to go drop the load and go home and the guard yells for me to wait and she had found another empty that would work.. LOL. I couldn't say no, hometime I can take whenever, why pass up on another $1000 in revenue for this week? So, grabbed that empty, made the pickup, gonna take me a day and a half to get this delivery done down in GA since I don't have full hours. After that gonna try to get home. But hell I've been saying that for the past two weeks and I keep finding loads that are worth more to me than hometime and decide to stay out...

But, I want to be home before the 4th so I can miss all the traffic, and dead load board, etc., that will come along with the holiday weekend. Hopefully GA will have something good to get me back home. Might have to run up to PA then back down to NC, but not gonna jump on anything just yet.

Seriously doubt you see weak board. There screaming for drivers to cancel there hometime for next couple weeks and adding a extra $350 to stay out. Freight is usually good in July. New physical warehouse can stock up again so they don't have to pay those taxes. Fall merchandise rolling out back to school. Good times.

Can you guys recommend a good source for getting questions answered about the Choice Program? Is there a place online that lays out Schneider's prerequisites/requirements for signing on? Is this thread an appropriate place to ask questions? I don't want to hijack your thread (and the EXCELLENT story telling.) Thanks for helping out a rook.

http://schneiderjobs.com/owner-operators should be able to find the basics from there, anything thats not there just ask around and do some reading in one of the many threads by ICs on this forum, people are happy to answer questions
