Having lived in Oregon, I can tell you that it would of been a pretty drive in the day light. At this time of year there will be a great deal of dear and pronghorn to keep an eye out for. There are many wide spots in the road that will have good restaurants at a fair price. Once you get to Burns, it should be pretty much ride and glide.

Well I couldn't find it online but I know for a fact there are signs at Sweet Home warning trucks of length restrictions going East on 20, I've seen it many times running through there between Halsey and Lebanon in the chip truck.
Coming in on 228 East from I-5 it directs trucks back to I-5 on 20 West,if my memory serves it's 60-65 feet for semis and 75ft for doubles.
I'm sure there's a sign on 20 East there somewhere as well.
Doesn't mean nobody doesn't make it with a '53ft trailer without a ticket but you take your chances, contrary to what has been posted here there are OSP cars on that highway often.
I've been over it many times on my Harley and in cars,I lived in the Tumalo area and in Bend many years.okiedokie Thanks this. -
I ran a logger on Tombstone back in the day. I don't think our op would enjoy that climb out of sweet home. I have run a maxi down that hill and yes it is illegal and so are 53's. Use to stop @ the store at the bottom. Never knew if the road would be washed out towards the bottom. Ahh the fond memories. @ y2k do you remember the 2 crows that would fly by the drivers window waiting to get a treat? Ps-there no escape ramps going west.:-0

There were a couple coyotes hanging out at the GP paper mill in Wauna begging treats from drivers, they'd come right up to the drivers door and just sit there waiting.
I've had a lot of small birds cleaning the bugs off my grill lately at the Chevron/CFN up in Longview, they found the free meal place in town lol. -

there are signs. telling you what NOT to be on. on the eugene side of the trip.
stay on the correct path. and there are no signs. and never saw osp. but i only ran that road with one company. to which i didn't stay at very long. -
I kust went over tombstone today. There are signs at both ends. Y2k was right. 75' doubles and 50' semi. No cops but Murphys law is always nearby. Another scenic drive is hwy 242. :-]
Y2K Thanks this.
