I hate to be the bad guy here, but you were following too close. 25 ft of following distance at 45 mph is, obviously, not enough space. I really don't see how you can fight anything and your employer would not be committing an "unfair labor practice" for terminating you.
If you look for another driving job, you have to be upfront and honest about it with any prospective employer. Even if it's not on your mvr yet, it will be soon. If you omit this info when applying for a job, the employer will find out about it eventually. Trying to hide it or omitting it will come back to bite you and most likely result in getting fired from a second job. There are companies that will still hire you, especially if your prior record is as clean as you say. It may not be the ideal job, but you will be able to find something. Just keep it on the straight and narrow for a couple years.
Have i just bought a ticket out of my career?

Ive seen several companies on the internet lately who say they accept up to 2 D.O.T. Reportables within the past 3 years so it may not be too bad for you? You can find them on those trucking job boards- careeringears, jobsintrucking, jobsinmotion, etc. Just make sure you tell them up front what happened because they will find it out. Good Luck!

Seems like anymore a driver w/ years of experience makes am error in judgement no one is perfect and his career is ruined/jepordize. I've been driving on the pavement for a year now and can see an accident is only a matter of time. So moved back to off road driving. Trying to protect my license for the last few years.

A rear end accident is a big NO NO. Huge. And whatever you were used to making, you better get used to not making it any longer. Or find a Chicagoland company. Because a rear end is just as bad as a roll over.
TomOfTx Thanks this. -
Get another job before its on your DAC. And The last 3places, including current, I've worked for dont even look at DAC, look locally.

there are lotsa companies that don't use dac. dac would be the least of my concern.
depends on his company. if he has no other tickets in the last 3 years. he might get lucky with the insurance.
how long have you been with current company,. -
Companies like Pam, cr England will hire you, it might not be what you want but it's a job for now
-
I dont think youll be fired for this if your in good standing with your company and have been there awhile. If you can get that highway patrol officer to give some kind of written statement or put on your report that it looked like a scam move that might help you dearly. These things can happen to the best of us, no matter how good some of us may THINK we are.
