I went to Decker July 7th. Okay fine. I drove 338 miles to get there. They said I was hired first at 47 per mile then 37 per mile. I took their muscle test with out breaking a sweat. Then next thing I was being let go. They told me , my application didn't qualify for their standers. I asked what and they said they didn't have to say because I was still getting interviewed. Next thing they gave me 20 minutes to pack my stuff for a bus. It took 2 day to get from Fort Dodge Iowa to Madison Wisconsin. Their recruiters are a bunch of liars. For my case is that I had boobs instead of a thing that swings between my legs. I was the only woman there the rest where men .16 of them.

While I have not heard good things about Decker the past few years (mainly too many trucks/drivers and not enough freight) I think there may be more to this story.

You should be happy they paid your way there and back at all. It is less than a days drive from Madison in a car taking the long way, and I would have drove myself if it was me.

And you said you DROVE there but took a bus home paid by them? I don't get it.

A lot of drivers get "pre-hired" with companies, pending all these skills tests. Then they are let go because either the driver was not being truthful on the app, or they find out you are not physically qualified, etc.

If it is in fact the app, Why don't they verify it before orientation?" If I ever deal with one of these "pre-hire" companies again, I would personally have the company IN WRITING send me an agreement that EVERYTHING on my application and driving record, CSA, etc has been reviewed and approved, before I even think of coming to orientation.

They have operation to take care of just that today, but methinks Deckers insurance policy probably won't cover it.

I've been to many orientations over the years. I've seen new hires get let go, because of things they're saying or ways they're acting on the premises, and are overheard by company personnel, either in the smoking patio or the lunch room or restroom or anywhere. Just a simple comment on how you know how to "turn up a slow truck" or "run 2 log books" or anything could be overheard and BAMM, you're gone ! One guy was let go because he was tatted up pretty good and came to class wearing a tank top. Bossman happen to see him and cut him loose.

OK, I'm not interested in taking you to task Firered, but did you drive a 1 way rental car there, and have to take a bus back, or what happened?

I don't know much about Decker, but while you were in town, you might have tried Oberg or one of the others.

    Fort Dodge has several companies.
