I have been looking at EPES since I started driving 2 years ago. First time I called was 2 weeks before my CDL road test, cant even remember who I talked to, but was told to call back after I got my CDL. When I did, I was told that I didn't go to any approved school. Was kinda bummed cause I live in NE PA, really, really, really close the Lowes DC in Minersville, PA. Was hoping to get on that account right out of school. Anyway, now that I have 2 years experience I know there will be no issues with coming over to EPES to get on that account. The company I drive for, which I wont mention, was getting me 2700 - 3100 miles a week consistently. Now I am lucky to get 2000 a week, though some weeks ill get close to 2500, others its more like 1700. I don't know what gives, have done everything right for them, never delivered a load late, actually always deliver early and pick up early if I can. I like to run, and have told them that. Anyway, was gonna ask if anyone here is on the Lowes account in Minersville, PA. If so could you give me some info about the account, such as pay and potential. Also do you ever get to run OTR to get some freight coming to the DC, so on. Thanks in advance.

You'll have to search for it but some of the guys running the dedicated out of minersville started a Seperate thread but didn't post much to it. They stay pretty busy they occasionally will get us to run some of those trips when they get behind.

search for that thread and send one of the guys a pm I'm sure they can answer any specifics about that operation.

Awesome, thank you. I wouldn't mind running OTR for a little bit too I ever needed. I just need to make money to support my family, and lately I have not been able to. Talked to an EPES driver today on the CB on I-77 coming up from SC into NC, and he was saying that he runs 2700 to 3700 a week and they get him home for 2 days every week. Right now I get home Friday and come back out on Monday, which I like. If that's possible and the miles, I will really have to consider running with yall. I will look for that thread

well here's one they never saw coming.......but if they'd been paying attention they might have

after 3 years and a month, this will be my last post as an epes driver/trainer.......I turned in my notice last week and today was my last day.

I more or less had a position with a smaller private carrier fall into my lap and it's too good of an opportunity to pass up.

this wasn't a decision that was made lightly or in haste. as those of you who have followed the posts longer term are aware, I noticed a subtle but fundamental change in operation policy and corporate culture around 18 months ago.......I followed up on that observation about 12 months ago and then earlier this year made the comment I'd give it until summer and see if the trend was holding. unfortunately it has and is. the turnover for may jumped 6 points to 41% and held that number into june. I'm pretty sure it will maintain that and show an increase into the subsequent months. maybe when they see the drain of good drivers they might take a minute to figure out why it's happening......and/or go back and remember what so many of us have been telling them for months and maybe that light bulb will go off.

I still maintain that it is a good company to go to and get good training. the places they deliver, the amount of northeast running and tight ### streets and docks in and around many of the customers will make a driver out of anyone who is competent enough to be trained and not tear anything up. the longer term opportunities I don't see as favorable for those with higher aspirations but it is a good place to start out if you can get your foot in the door with them.

i'll still follow the posts of course and see how things are going here. for the most part I can say they were good to me and I was successful here.....but too many little things/issues that are continually not addressed add up over time and not seeing any improvement in these things or any willingness to listen to those who are bringing these isues to the attention of those who are in a position to address them just wears on those of us who give a #### over the longer term and makes it an unworkable situation when the same old problems crop up time and time again.

the place I'm going is about half the size of epes and has only a 5% turnover. every driver to the last one i've talked to says they will only leave there when they retire and if i was offered a position take it and don't look back.very difficult to get on with. the process took about 6 weeks. I'd been looking at them for about a year and talked to every driver I got a chance to who works there during that time and knew if the opportunity arose I'd pounce on it and it did when they opened a new facility just west of Winston this year. they do things the right way so there will be no surprises at orientation. they checked all of my background, dac, csa, mvr, employment history ect before they even proceeded with the process. if you don't pass that part of it they don't proceed with you further. then the phone interview, then a 2 hour in person interview with the transportation manager, then the road test and physical. they were impressed with me and me with them so when they made an offer a week after the interview process was done I didn't hesitate at that point.

I wish all of you still there the best. I hope things improve and they remember who they were and the company they were when I was hired. it was a different place then. one thing is for sure....when good/safe drivers/trainers, top achievers, people who are called 'assets to the company' like Sherman and myself are making for the exit in growing numbers, that should throw up a huge red flag to those in charge that maybe they should take a long hard look at the way they are managing and treating their drivers.

thanks man. it's certainly going to be a change from what I've been doing. the only downside I can see, if you can call it that, is that I might get a little bored running the same 15 +/- routes week in and week out.

don't think I'm going to be bored driving a much nicer truck with an apu that will run the speed limit in most places though.

and I most definitely won't be bored on payday. it's a very substantial increase in pay.
