I have a grossly under powered and headache 475hp c15 acert, done quite a bit of research into the difference between factory 625hp and 475hp. With everyone and their mama pointing out the obvious; bigger cam, pistons, injector and turbo; without any part numbers and most importantly, what it entails to make that leap, its quite a runaround for some of us looking to upgrade. And the cat house wont divulge any part numbers until I give them a serial number from a true 625hp. Any body knows the part numbers of a 625hp internals. How much bigger is the piston, does it need to honed and by how much. Had incredibly high blow-by, oil coming out of the breather, installed a kit from cat to no avail. massive oil leak from the back end of the cylinder gasket, dismal fuel mileage and salt to the injury, fan clutch cuts a groove through the radiator from wobbling too much. This a wreck on an engine and I had enough. Time for a build! With the head off and boy it is a mess to say the least, I supposed I should do all upgrades within my reach. Anyone had experience with IPD parts? I plan to source my parts from them. I mostly work on aircraft engines and this is somewhat different rather than new to me. So any Ideas will be greatly appreciated.

pistons are not bigger, they are lower compression, injectors are bigger, turbos have larger housing, your 475 can be turned up to 550 and with the proper trim codes will definately put a smile on your face, if you want more get a pdi tune or a Bullydog...result will be non stop ear to ear smile,

625's dont have bigger pistons they have lower compression pistons for the added boost the 625 generates, the turbo housings are larger and the injectors are bigger, not sure about the cam, as forpiston size the bore is the same

thanks bgxpress, You are right, I just did a side by side comparison of the two, same bore, stroke and all but different compression ratio....I assume the 625 piston is more concaved inward than the 425. I am very aware of the software tunes and their limitations as well. as a matter of fact I had mine uprated to 550 and it barely did a thing to it. I figured since i have this thing torn I rather make some upgrades to the hardware. I have a PDI cam and manifold, I am hoping to have their tune after I am done putting this thing together. if you got access to the part numbers, please let me know.

That I dont have. Just use the serial # of a truck with a 625

In the CAT parts listing the 625 is called king of the hill, a good shop will easily find those parts you need

Here's the disclaimer you have to sign if you want a PDI...
One of these days in the near future the EPA is going to crack down on this stuff. First they will go straight to the source and anyone that advertises it. We would hate to have the forum shut down over a very small percentage of posts.

you are sweeping with to broad a broom. not all tunes are designed for emissions modification, they are exactly what they say a tune of the existing parameters without removing or changins any of the emissions systems.Ukumfe Thanks this.
