Do you know if they hire in VA? After reading this post I think this is the type of company im looking for! im looking for a regional gig in this area, as I need more home time than out for 14 days and get 2 days home. I wouldn't mind moving to Tennessee either! I love that place haha

Turned 3000 miles this week, If i get a short haul tommorrow before payroll cutoff at midnight that number could go over 3K. SO FOR SO GOOD STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES AS I CAN GET TO THEM

Are they running mostly volvo or the t680? Once I get out of orientation what do you think I'll mostly be assigned?

They've only been buying the 680s for the last year or so, but there are still a lot of 2-3 yr old Volvos left in the fleet. There are also still some T-660s and Freightliner Cascadias left too. What truck you get is a total coin toss, no way to tell until you get it.

Just Checking in, Things are still rolling along smooth, just turned 2 back to back 3000 mile+ weeks, and I was home 3 out of those 14 days.It is Tuesday and I am sitting on 1200 miles already this week, and preplanned on 600 more.Scheduled to be home in TN. Friday for 3 days off. Thought I would miss going to the west coast, but I really don't.I am never more than 600-800 miles from home and get home more frequently than when I ran the coast.Well thats all for now, Any questions feel free to ask.

I've got a few questions for you.

How much experience do drivers need (in years) before Big G will hire them?(My husband has been in trucking for a year, 5 months of that has been solo driving or independent of training.)
Are riders allowed (with rider insurance)? Dogs? If so, is there a weight restriction or fee for dogs?
Insurance--do you have vision insurance too?

The fact that Big G is owned by drivers, are you company drivers, or do you lease?

It appears you do little waiting, but if you wait long for swaps, to be loaded or unloaded, do you get retention pay? When you head home for home time, do you generally have a load or is it deadhead; paid miles for trip home? Are fuel stops your timing and choice (for fuel locations) or scheduled and only certain truck stops (I, e. Loves, Pilot) to fuel? I'm supposing you have a fuel card? Do you do refer and dry van loads?
Last question, for now, :biggrin_25519:What percent of freight is no touch?

Sorry for so many questions. My husband works for a good company now, a sort of starter company. He drives a refer which is also used as dry bed. Unfortunately, the insurance provided by that company is awful! He loves driving and seeing the country, is good spirited, and loves his truck (man cave!), a Kenworth. He does do frequent swaps and frequently waits a while for being mainly unloaded. Swaps take a while too sometimes, the waiting game for other person to appear. The waiting is basically unpaid time for the most part. Thanks for your info and time! Hope you have a great day!
