Swift and many others are self insured using a bond with a risk management group so they call the shots

like freightlinerman said blowing a steer tire is not that much drama. I have had one blow on me for about 2 sec it wants to correct its self you get it under control be easy on brakes and pull to side of shoulder on hwy and the bad thing it was literally a brand new tire was less then 2 days old

So......is it clear now that the executives at swift and jb hunt are FAILING miserably? Blaming it on driver retention and external labor shortages stem from their very ####### decisions by not raising pay! Instead they raise their own pay. Now for swift the shareholders will be holding them accountable and compensation will go down, but when you're making millions who cares if you lose a couple hundred thousand.....stupidity

    Better late than never, dog-c.

The raises have been done. Let's see what else they roll out for driver retention. Apparently there's a whole host of things they are implementing, like changing the over speed policy to be more lenient, streamlining the load planning and dispatch, etc.

If you have your own truck why not lease on with Landstar or Mercer now? Why next year?

Simple because I want to. Most likely I'll leave swift around thanksgiving then ill spend time with my son and grandchildren. Get the house ready to give my son for his wedding present. Plus I want to put super singles on truck and put a lift/ tag axel on back of tractor. And some minor other adjustment to it. Plus in February I'll be going to Australia to visit my best friend, we both worked in Iraq and Kuwait security. And then around may ill get back on road. Hey you asked

Nice plan Luse. Lot of drivers fail to plan like you do. Sounds like you're very-disciplined!

    More great news for swift.....

a fine pristine operation the Human Resources execs are running at swift! Best In class!

[IMG]Multibillion-dollar trucking conglomerate Swift Transportation Co. will pay $4.4 million to settle a class action claiming they neglected to tell more than 10,000 job applicants that they can access and contest the background checks it used in its hiring process. The settlement applies to any driver applicant for Swift between July 23, 2008, and Sept. 30, 2012, for whom Swift obtained a background check, motor vehicle history report or consumer report and did not first have an in-person interaction with, according to court documents. There are about 161,000 members in the class, court documents say, divided into two types: Group 1 and Group 2. There are about 48,000 Group 1 members and about 113,000 Group 2 members. Group 1 members will get $50 each, and the remainder of the $4.4 million will be divided between the Group 2 members, with each settlement to not exceed $50 and the overall settlement to not exceed $4.4 million. The case was filed last summer by James Ellis III, who claimed he was denied a job with Swift after the company did a background check. He argues the company was not authorized to view the report, nor did they disclose to him that he could view a free copy of the report within 60 days and that he could dispute the accuracy of any information within the report. He will receive a $5,000 settlement while seven other named plaintiffs will each get $1,000.[h=3][/h]
