I think it's slow everywhere at the moment. With the prices of Beef,Pork, and chicken increasing. Many people aren't buying so that floods the market with trucks that would be pulling those loads. So everybody is fighting to keep their trucks moving. Too many trucks not enough loads. Hopefully it will get better soon.

Hopefully it will get better. The market keeps coming up with excuses. First the a bad corn year, raise the beef prices. That was almost 5 years ago. They have been having bad corn crops ever since?

Now that everyone is eating pork now there is some pork disease and them prices are suppose to rise.

I think they play games after they see people will still pay higher prices. Since I've been home I noticed a lot of meat gets ruined at the grocery store because people are refusing to pay them prices. I saw a $90 tenderloin roast sitting there turning all brown. What a waste.

Something has to give. I heard this morning coffee prices are suppose to double because they had a bad year. I guess the whole world is having weather problems or they found a way to manipulate the markets.

With summer around the corner it should pick up soon. People love to grill out.

I agree. people just don't have money for the extra's with the healthcare law in place. which is concerning me about the next holiday season. will it be good or bad? I do know one thing. the tax season for 15,16,17. is going to impact freight and the economy. the fine for not having health insurance is $190 a month. from what I was told any ways. so many will be handed a big fine in there taxes. which will wipe out most if not all there tax refund. so I think right now. many that have jobs. are saving there money and cutting spending waiting for the 2015 tax season to hit. that's what i'm doing anyways. I figure by tax season 16. example new cars will be going for a steal. and financing them will be easier. so if I were to invest in stocks. I would invest in medical supply, and pharmaceutical companies. and the manufactures of medical, and prescription drugs. I would be sure to be out of it by may of 2017. I think that is when the states will throw out the health care laws. due to heavy economical damages.

I live in Alabama. How is freight east of the Mississippi with Freymiller?

(BTW, I know I posted about going to PTL in recent days. However, a few things have come up to where I decided NOT to sign on with them. With that said, I did commit to Freymiller and I am scheduled to go to OKC after the July 4th weekend.)

It's a shame the pay is so low at Freymiller, they seem like an ideal company otherwise.

I get melons and tomatoes out of Florida (Naples, Ft Meyers area) in March and April headed to Michigan where I live. Mostly I'm running from Fresno with produce to Spartan in GR, then brick-pac juice boxes from Squirt-Pac out of Holland, Michigan to points west. I was pulling Steelcase furniture to Texas or AZ out of GR but those loads have dried up.

IDK about that. They offered me .37/mile plus performance and fuel bonuses. Plus, from all the comments I've been reading about most of the drivers getting boatloads of miles, I don't see how a driver can't make a more than decent living with them.

When I compare this with a company like Crete that no longer offers bonuses (but raised the pay rate by .03 for all drivers across the board a few years ago yet cut their company trucks back from 65 mph to 62), I would think that I would definitely be coming out ahead in this deal. But, I guess it's all about perception.

I like your signature block. Makes perfect sense.

As an aside, I'll be in OKC on Monday. Flying out from Atlanta. Glad to be getting out of gas hauling and back over the road.

I think that you should go back and re-read some of the earlier posts about those bonuses. Freymiller has what they call a performance bonus. It wraps fuel, miles, recruitment, and other things into one. You have to hit the mark in every category, or you won't get the bonus. When I was there, a driver had to average 2800 mi/wk at 6.8mpg in order to qualify. Almost everybody could get the mpg, but the 2800 mi/wk avg was much harder to achieve. In the year that I was there, I got the bonus once...and that's back when miles were good. On average 20% of their drivers would get the performance bonus.

The mileage pay is based, not on experience, but how long you were at your previous employer. If they will start you at .37/mi (which is their max starting pay,) I would assume that you had some tenure at your previous employer. Most start at .34-.36.
