Ever wonder what a gas station blowing up looks like?

What does a Rushkie video have to do with fuel hauling??? Those vapors weren't gas. Looked like a propane/butane leak. Above ground storage tanks. When's the last time you saw one of those in the US? And what were these two doing just filming a nonchalant gas station? You drive?? Sit on top of a couple hundred gallons of diesel? Lot more drivers killed by diesel flames from their own rigs then tankers. Like this one last year.

I was training. Instructor decided to come up 360 in DFW area instead of 161{George Bush Turnpike}. They parallel each other a few miles apart. Guy drove right off I30 and dropped to Bush below. Doesn't show a minute later as he burned alive in spite of some brave efforts to save him. One or two gallons of gas/diesel/etc is all it takes to blow you away. Tankers are a blast. Wish I had started yrs ago. Just have to change your driving style a little and be more careful. Accept the added responsibility And watch the money roll in.

In the early 70s or maybe in thee 60s a propane tank exploded on Old 66 in AZ. For years we would drive by it and there was only some pipe and concrete left. It was a Tankcar on Sante Fe track siding that caught fire and exploded at Doxol Gas. Found the story after I wrote this but it was July 1973.
http://kingmanhistoricdistrict.com/...fighters-memorial-park/the-disaster-story.htm . Killed 11 firemen and injured quite a few people.

Haha, yeah as far as blowing up at a gas station, I'd take my chances with that vs say, well,, pretty much anything. Statistically speaking, odds are probably better that you'll choke to death on a steak.

Fear of explosions keeps the tanker pay up, so it's prolly best to leave it alone :-D

All well and good... but there are far too many variables related to any type of fuel, flammable or explosive hauling to make me want to try it again. There was a short window of time where I hauled JP4 from Farmington back to Denver. Nothing like running JP4 through the hills in a cabover with bad brakes to keep you on your toes!

I'll stick with lime, thank you. As long as it doesn't get wet it's quite stable. Dusty, but stable.

I haven't lived this long and maintained a perfect safety record by taking unnecessary chances.

I don't know why you would think the gas station exploded unless you have no idea on how vapors and gasoline burn. What's the name of that guy that runs around screaming the sky is falling?

Much higher requirements keeps pay higher then any fear of being blown up. No losers who can't follow instructions. Little things like speed limits, following distances, grounding, pre/post trip inspections, attention to detail not the CB. Your record follows you. Right to Swift or some other .28-42 per mile dead end job. Not into great paying tanker jobs. Don't speak of what you don't know.

NOt sure. But the tire marks are still on wall above and burn marks on road below. You would have to see what he managed to squeeze through to even get to that drop off. Looks like a Kawasaki Mule would have trouble.
