I have heard alot of good things about Roehl but not much on USA truck. Anyone know anything on them good or bad. I live in Ohio and both have midwest reg. both have same benifits and about the same cost a little more for Roehl, this is important cause of family. with Roehl out for 5-7 days home 1-2 days. With USA home most weekends so the recruiter says. With Roehl no NYC but you have go to Canada sometimes. USA no forced NYC they say. Starting out as a newbie i just want to make sure i get with a good company. Starting pay for both companies is the same for student, but in 6 months with USA you go from .28 to .32 with Roehl its .28 and then 6 months to .30. I have applied for many companies and only 3 have called me and talked, Roehl, USA truck, and CRST. Not interested in CRST.

in a word Roehl

I worked for USA for a little while. The insurance isn't all that great. If you are running regional you will mostly run within 500 miles of Dayton. The pay-scale is a little higher there than most companies. They will not be able to guarantee you being home every weekend, but you will be home most weekends. Although it is usually for only 34 hours. It will depend on what account you end up on. There is no forced dispatch into NYC. The few things they have going into the city is dropped at another trucking company in New Jersey. I worked for them for almost three years and didn't have many problems with them. I know some people have. Alot of it comes down to which companies bs you can put up with the most.

A nurse that I work with says her husband worked for Roehl and had a bad experience with them but in most cases if not all cases you have to consider the source. Any dog that will carry a bone will bring one with them. Some ppl. can't get along with anybody whether good or bad so please take the negative with a grain of salt.
Thanks

Your call, I just wanted to let you know my experience. -
I have nothing but good to say about Roehl. I hear bad experiences from other drivers on here, but mine has been great and the other guys I have talked to on the road seem to be happy. I have insurance on myself and my son for about $250 a month (health, dental, life, accident, disability). My ex-wife works in the medical insurance field and she says it is a fairly good plan too. Could it be better? Sure, but it's not bad. Take all the bad with a grain of salt, just like any other company.

So what you are saying is: because they dropped you off 27 miles away from your house, you called it quits and didn't decide to show up for EVO II? If that is the case, BIG DEAL. Grow a pair and stick with it. This is why most new people on here complain all the time about companies "screwing" them when the reality is they come in this industry with weak skin and an attitude. Big deal if they dropped you off 27 miles away. Smoke a few cigarettes, calm down, get home, and then call them about it. If people use reasoning usually 99% of the time they get either 1. Compensated or 2. An apology. But I bet they won't drop you off again 27 miles away. SIMPLE use of your brain goes a long way. But then again, if complaining about how a company screwed you and you think telling them to go to H*** works for ya, then go for it. Either way, I'm still gonna sleep good tonight.
Have a good one. -

Who said I told them to go to H*** , I can see you dont comprehend what you read very well. You should pratice what you preach about using ones brain. Yours appears to be in a nutural position. This forum is about telling of ones experience about a particuliar company, not a ##### session from an opinionated wannabe. -
"they dropped him off 147 miles from his car."
Is seems to often be the case that the dispatcher is the weak link that causes good drivers to leave a company. My trainer was at Roehl for 6 years and his dispatcher was an idiot. I have a low tolerance for BS. I now know I should have never entered the trucking industry. Truckers have more brains than their dispatchers, yet they are at the dispatchers mercy. And no, I did'nt want an inside job, thus I could never be a dispatcher, I have to be on the road, or at least not stuck in the same office with the same people doing the same thing everyday.
