Is it possible to put a COE cab on a conventional chassis? What I'm thinking is that I could have a seriously stretched sleeper with the same wheelbase as one normally has on a Century, Columbia, etc. Lots of work, of course, but I think it could really be worth doing. Or am I missing something?

Maybe,Jacking this enormous cab-up would be an issue. There was this giant cabinover owned by a truck drivin college in TX back in '80.ATS or somthing like that.Fabulous Rig !
When I hauled frames outa A.O. Smith,Millwaukee to Freightshaker N.C. I would see the trucks during assembly and think to myself how much it looked like a cabinover, till it got a hood put-on-it.And it DID.
Im sure whatever it is you have in mind has been done before. What kind of wheelbase are you thinkin ? 265'' -
I'd like to keep it down to perhaps 230" or so. It's still in the "pipe dream" stage of planning, but I think it would entail a ground-up build. Start with the chassis, new or rebuilt engine, find a cab and cut it up, stretch it out, etc. I would want to have enough clearance to haul reefers. I'm also thinking the seats and dash could be pushed back a bit from normal COE position in order to make the cab front more streamlined.

What search terms are you using? I'm not having much luck.

Had a friend at Atlas that had a pete c/o with a 110" double eagle on it. He would just unhook the boot when he raised the cab.

I would prefer an integral unit -- I would worry about leaks from that boot.
