It seems that you are burning up your hours at shippers and receivers. You can make you a little note and stick it on you dash or somewhere to remind you that when you get to shipper/receiver to switch from on duty to sleeper or off duty. After a while it should become a habit for you. Hope this helps.

All great advice, I thank you for your input everyone. I didn't realize at first that "on duty" hours would take away from my drive time.stupid as it sounds it never clicked until this week's learning experience.

some elogs you can go back days and edit but you have to approve them again

From what I have learned there are 3 things that say when you can drive.
1) You must have time from your 60/70 hours.
2) Cant drive more than 11 hours a day (shift).
3) Can't drive after your 14 hours. The 14 hour clock starts when you go on shift (on duty) and does not stop till you are off for 10 consecutive hours (split 8 sleeper/2 off duty or all 10 in sleeper) then your 14 clock starts again.
Off duty or sleeper of the 2 hours load/unload time DOES NOT add time to your 14 hours time. Because it is NOT shown as On Duty time it does not hit the 60/70 hour week time.
Did I get that right guys?

One common mistake I learn from an old timer who use elogs now is at the fuel lines you can save a bout 4-8 hrs a week go off duty at all times after fueling. I use to stay on duty when I pull up to go in to get some coffee, subway, etc. Those extra 15-20 minutes a stop can add up if listed as off vs on

That's what I do as well. Bathroom breaks, fueling, coffee,I stay on duty.

The best way to describe I guess would be on duty when fueling, checking in at receiver/shipper and pre and post trip. Other than that off duty or sleeper.

Another good thing to do is as soon as you come to a truck stop to find a place to park, then come to a full stop as soon as safely possible after entering the parking lot and log Off Duty. Otherwise you will continue to be on Drive line while you find and then get into a parking spot. That alone can save hours each week.popcorn169 and Nightwind8830 Thank this.
