just today, monday. one of our drivers got a d.o.t. insp in Pelham AL. got a warning, officer told the Pete driver the visor was too low, only allowed, I think he said 6 " from top of windshield.
BAYOU Thanks this. -
Haven't heard of much troubles with visors, but privacy tinting, especially in places like AZ.....plenty of complaints and tickets about taking it one shade to dark.

Doesn't really matter how much pride you have in your job or how hard you work, the states will find fault with it and a way to make money off of it. America used to be a wonderful country, but the scumbags are ruining it for the real working men and women.

If visor is a stock they (DOT) can write up themselves. Everything installed by manufacturer are comply with the DOT and safety regulations for American vehicles.
If visor is aftermarket check the Green book. -
Sounds ridiculous.
If it's not one things it's another with these guys. -
Well, I have never had one of those drop visors, but looks to me like it would be hard to see out of the truck. Do not think I want one, but some do look cool, some look like a hazard.
semi retired semi driver, Scalemaster and SHO-TYME Thank this. -
They don't cover 13" of the windshield. Sounds like a bogus ticket that could be challenged and beat. Officer would have to show me the regulation.

For the last 2 years or so Calif has been writing up drop visors,,it is becoming an new thing with dot inspectors,,can't find enough wrong with trucks to earn donut credits so they are going after low visors,,
here is a fact less than 3% of all truck accidents are caused by defective or unsafe equipment,,about 60% are caused by stupidity,, about 65% are caused by 4 wheelers and about 20% of those could have been avoided by more experienced truck drivers this came from the Fed DOT -
Tb0n3, jbatmick, Pedigreed Bulldog and 2 others Thank this.
