Spend a dollar to save a nickel. In short pay a fair wage and keep good drivers instead of what they have now.

I've been Otr since I started driving 6 years ago. I had 2 kids when I started ages 8 and 5. I now have a new baby.
I'm Home every weekend now though. I won't stay out any longer than that. I value my home time more than a few extra dollars in my paycheck.

many people in many jobs are not home any more then truck drivers
as a commercial fisherman i was home a lot less
my cousin in his 3 piece suit spends more time on planes then home
it is all a choice doesn't make any of them wrong
as for me just leave me on I80 west of des moines time and money starts equaling out
    even in a fast truck

Ya. But did the Good Lord put me here just to get a pension and sick days?

I'm quitting next spring. Doing something different, something I like.

    zenaddler and blairandgretchen Thank this.

I know the feeling, but all this is well just a job.

Heding Truck Service, out of Union Center Wisconsin, is a Teamsters OTR outfit, with excellent benefits, good wages for otr, and a pension.

only a guy who has never done ltl would call it "boring". the amount of stress when you are a p&d guy will never let it be boring. stressful, yes. boring, no.

bring a couple of steel hauler chains with you, docks are a luxury.

and linehaul is fun as well, hope you can turn 600 miles a night in a 63 mph truck!

    zenaddler and mattbnr Thank this.

That's like saying.. only a guy who's never stared at the ceiling all day would call it boring.

    P&D sure, that's stressful..
But I was talking about Linehaul.. running terminal to terminal everyday seeing the same things and same roads.
By description that seems not very exciting.. but when you'd see that large paycheck that would be exciting lol
